The city can be accessed by rail via train stations at Milngavie and Bearsden (each about 5½ miles). Both Milngavie and Bearsden have thriving town centres and excellent specialist shopping. The nearby village of Strathblane (2.5 miles) offers schooling at primary level whilst Balfron High School is the nearest state secondary school and is held in very high regard. The formal dining room has a pretty cornice, a four part bay window with lovely views over the private parklands and an open fire set into an intricately carved wooden fireplace. The floor is partly herringbone parquet. There are connecting doors to the pantry and to the kitchen. The kitchen is most substantial.
