Take the ferry to Hunter s Quay, Dunoon. Leave the terminal and turn right on the A815 through Sandbank. After 3½ miles turn left on to the B836. After 11 miles turn right on to the A886. After 1½ miles turn left onto the A8003 to Tighnabruaich. On entering Tighnabruaich stay on the high road where Ardeneden will be found on the right hand side. Situation Tighnabruaich, along with the adjoining village of Kames, provides a remarkably good range of facilities. These include a medical surgery/pharmacy, a bank, two post offices, fire and police stations and a filling station. There are also two mini-markets, an antique shop, a hairdresser and an art gallery. A mobile library and a mobile cinema visit regularly. There are good hotels and eating places nearby. Dunoon and Rothesay provide wider shopping facilities. Local clubs cater for art, horticultural and craft interests amongst others. Tighnabruaich has its own primary school. Secondary schooling (day and boarding) is available at Dunoon (25 miles). The area offers much in the way of outdoor pursuits and is well known for its natural beauty and dramatic scenery. Ever popular with the sailing fraternity, the area has also much to offer wild life enthusiasts; cormorants, herons, guillemots, seals, dolphins, porpoises and basking sharks have all been observed. Sea, river and loch fishing is available in the area. Kames has a nine hole golf course and a tennis court. The world s last sea-going paddle steamer, the Waverley, calls regularly at Tighnabruaich on excursions. The Kyles of Bute Sailing Club is in the village. The RNLI lifeboat based in the village provides reassurance. Description Ardeneden is said to have been originally built in Glasgow in 1850, subsequently dismantled, stone by stone, and shipped by a Glasgow merchant to Tighnabruaich where it was rebuilt. At one time it was owned by the Christian Endeavour organisation, which offered holidays and accommodation for Christians of all ages and denominations, as well as non-christians. Ardeneden is a handsome. three storey villa built of stone under a slate roof and provides excellent family accommodation, with three reception rooms and six bedrooms and the bonus of a two bedroom annexe to the rear. Stone steps with a wrought iron balustrade lead to the front entrance, where double storm doors open into a vestibule with a tiled floor and a beautiful etched glass panelled door leads into the main reception hallway.

4 The hallway has beautiful plasterwork, a stripped and sanded timber floor and an elegant staircase to the first floor. The drawing room has a bay window and window seat, decorative cornicing, a ceiling rose, an open fireplace and a stripped and sanded timber floor. The sitting room to the rear has a decorative cornice and ceiling rose. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor. One is at the front of the house and the second is accessed from an inner hall from where a secondary staircase leads down to the lower ground floor. These two bedrooms are served by two bathrooms off a rear hallway which also has a connecting door to the games room in the annexe. On the lower ground floor, off a hallway with an external door, are the dining room, the kitchen and a laundry room. The dining room has a fireplace and French doors to the garden. The kitchen has a tiled floor and is well fitted with contemporary wall and floor units, including a central island with sink and drainer. There is a six ring gas hob and a Bosch oven. There is ample space for a dining table and chairs in the bay window. Off the kitchen is a large walk in pantry cupboard.
