The loft is situated in the old KNSM canteen, originally preserved by order of the city and squatted by artists in the 90 s. Renovated and repurposed shortly afterwards and divided into 8 individual units. 5 LOCATION Located in the Eastern Harbour District of Amsterdam. The KNSM Eiland is just a 10 minutes bike ride to the city centre and the Central Station of Amsterdam. Originally the KNSM island was a busy port location which fell into disuse in the 1970s after most of the harbour activity moved to the Western Docklands. From 1980s onwards an ambitious redevelopment scheme was undertaken creating a pleasant residential neighbourhood surrounded with harbours and water. The KNSM island attracts young families as well as creative-class professionals drawn to the design culture and the progressive nature of the surrounding architecture. The island breathes creativity! Public transport is available just around the corner, bars, restaurants and shops also just a stone s throw away.
