During the initial stage itself the residents objected to the work but the local officials informed us that it was a pilot project executed by Tamilnadu Govt. across the city for the benefit of its residents. The digging was carried out with JCB machines without proper coordination with Metrowater and EB departments. This resulted in damage to EB cables, drainage and Metrowater pipes. There were no Corporation officials supervising the work which was invariably carried out at night. In spite of the visible damages caused to the pipes, the workers continued their work using the JCB machines and did not inform their supervisors about the damages. The aggrieved residents then met the Assistant Engineer, Corporation Ward 125. He advised us to meet the Zonal Officer in Ripon Building as it was a centralized project. Since April 10, the work has been abruptly suspended and has stopped right in front of my house. 8 RPF rescues stranded girl who missed train 12-year-old Anjali Balu Patel (native of Maharashtra) was reunited with her family within 45 minutes by Mambalam Railway Protection Force after she got left behind in Park Station while boarding a train to Velachery at 4 p.m on April 24.
