2 INTRODUCTION Welcome to the Le Mans hall of residence. The Nantes student residence centre (CROUS) offers a building with 921 accommodations, varying from single rooms to double studios, next to the university campus and public transport systems. In order to facilitate your setting-in and to better inform you on the hall of residence s organization, we have chosen to provide you with this practical guide that contains a host of information that will help you get started. 3 1/ The BUILDINGS The Cité Vaurouzé is a building with 716 rooms (9m² and 18m²). Address: 16 bd Charles Nicolle, Le Mans. Access: tramway - stop at Campus-Ribay. Rooms are equipped with furniture, a bathroom (shower, washbasin and toilet), a fridge and a web connection. A collective kitchen is available on each floor (open until p.m.). The Bartholdi residence hall has 205 studios (T1 and T1 bis). Address: 16 avenue Bartholdi, Le Mans. Access: tramway - stop at Université. Each studio has an en-suite kitchen. The administrative centre is open Monday to Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. The hall of residence has a lodge which is open 24/24 (no reception desk at the residence hall). 2/ MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS KEYS AND PASSES: If you forget or lose your keys or pass: please contact the porter s lodge immediately. Please DO NOT contact an independent locksmith. INTERNET: a broadband wired connection system (cable) and a wifi connection are available in all rooms. When you arrive at the residence hall, your name will be entered in our business software, which will generate a connection code that you will receive by SMS and by . You can use this code to create your own account. 3/ PREMISES AVAILABLE FOR YOU LAUNDRY: in the Vaurouzé hall of residence, it is located in the basement of building D, and it is available as a self-service. In the Bartholdi residence hall, it is located on the ground floor of building B. Each wash cycle costs 3 and a drying cycle is 1. In case of any malfunctioning, please contact S²LR directly at this number: (+33) (0) or (+33) (0)

4 BICYCLE SHEDS: in the Cité, they are located at the basement of buildings B and D. In the hall of residence, they are located on the ground floors of buildings A, C and D. You can open the sheds using your key. CAR PARK: is available for you. Please make sure you don t park in inappropriate areas. The Cité can not be held responsible in the event of a break-in, theft or material accident. THE ROUND HOUSE: at the Cité, it is open to all residents. This is where you can find a tvroom, a play room and a relaxation and work area. WORKING ROOM: only available at the Cité, on the ground floors of buildings A, B, C and E, they are open until p.m. SPORTS HALL: it is located on the ground floor of building A (next to this building s car park). It is open until p.m. You will need to ask for an access pass from the porter s lodge. 4/ RENTAL FEES They must be paid between the 1 st and the 10 th of each month. - on line (using your credit card): on the booking webpage at - Cash (only for foreigners who arrive for the first time) and with your credit card, directly at the accounting department; - By direct debit: you need to sign an authorisation form that you will find in your resident s welcome pack. Please hand it over to the accounting department. Please note: pay cheques are no longer accepted.

French social benefits (CAF): you may benefit from housing assistance during your stay. Please download the certificate from the Cité-U service of your Crous, available from the Mes Services webpage at ( and fill-in your housing assistance request form on CAF s website ( This is a fully on-line procedure. RENTAL COSTS: they are included in the rent, except for electricity fees in the Bartholdi residence hall. You need to contact an electricity provider to open your account. A list of providers is available at or (+33) (0) APARTMENT SHARING: you can receive visitors in your apartment but your rental contract forbids sharing it. DEPARTURES: please contact the porter s lodge so as to enquire about the departure procedure. You need to give your notice 30 days in advance, date for date.

7 When you leave, your apartment must be clean and a joint inspection and inventory will be conducted with a service agent. Any damage reported during this inspection will be invoiced. SECURITY DEPOSIT: you will pay your deposit when you receive your keys, and receive it back when you leave. EMERGENCY AID (punctual or annual): contact details for the University s social workers are as follows: servicesocial@univ-lemans.fr. Social workers can help students face punctual financial problems. NIGHT KITS: are available and cost 25 BOOKING: for short stays (one-off stays, up to 18 nights), you need to book your rooms from the our Bed ncrous platform ( 6/ ANY OTHER BUSINESS: APSYTUDE: if you are feeling under stress, or feeling down, or if you are going through family problems or feeling lonely, you can talk freely with a psychologist. Consultations are available on Tuesdays, from 6.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. in the IT room of building B of the Vaurouzé residence hall, with or without appointments: rdv.apysitude@gmail.com GPs: you can use the medical services of the University Health Centre (maison de l université, tel.: +33 (0) ) POLICE SERVICES: main police station: 6 rue Coeffort, Le Mans, tel.: +33 (0) INTERNAL REGULATIONS: they cover the relations between Crous and residents and aim at preserving harmonious living conditions within the residence halls. CATERING: University restaurant in Vaurouzé, located next to the Cité Vaurouzé, open for lunch and dinner, with a traditional yet also diversified catering offer. Bartholdi University restaurant, located next to the Bartholdi residence hall, open for lunch, with a more traditional catering offer. Cafeterias inside university buildings at UFR Lettres, Sciences, Droit and inside the IUT. CIVIC SERVICE: voluntary workers are responsible for entertainment inside the university residence halls and for creating links between residents.

8 NIGHT WATCHMEN: are present in the Cité on a 24/24 basis and ensure that you benefit from a quiet and safe environment.
