6 The Old Deanery & Little Priors Gate The Old Deanery is an impressive Grade II* Listed six bedroomed house which, until 2017, was the Cathedral Dean s private residence. Of principally stone construction under collyweston slate roof, the property has medieval monastic origins and parts date to the 13th Century. It was heavily restored and altered in the 18th and 19th centuries, with some elements of a Victorian Gothic style added. The Old Deanery is a fabulous dwelling with generously proportioned principal rooms with high ceilings and large windows overlooking its gardens and grounds and some beautiful retained period features. The galleried hall is panelled, the gallery linking to the first floors of both The Old Deanery and Little Prior s Gate. The dwelling has four reception rooms, of which the panelled drawing room and bay-fronted dining room are particularly large and impressive rooms. The six first floor bedrooms are all doubles. The principal suite and bedroom 2 are particularly large doubles, with three bath or shower rooms serving the bedrooms. Little Prior s Gate adjoins The Old Deanery to its south. It is also Grade II* Listed. It has been used as the Cathedral s s until 2017 and has independent access, but is internally linked to The Old Deanery at first floor level from the Galleried Hall. With accommodation to two floors, the property has some fine architectural details with corner turrets facing the Cathedral. If not offices, informal discussions with The Conservation r and English Heritage steer towards a single separate ancillary dwelling to The Old Deanery, subject to all consultations and necessary consents.

7 Access & Grounds The property is offered with what must be one of the largest garden s in the centre of the city. The dwelling is approached through the Cathedral s Minster Precincts and by an archway adjacent to the west front of the Cathedral.
