3 THE FARM Built in c.1830, The Farm is an excellent example of Gothic-revival architecture, retaining its outstanding original features of the era. The entrance to the house is through the original limestone portico that leads into the 75ft-x-15ft grand hall. This impressive hall features a fan-vaulted ceiling and a baronial-style cut-stone fireplace, as well as the original bifurcated staircase.

5 On the stairs half-landing, there is an enormous west-facing Gothic window. Off the hallway, the large drawing room features an original fireplace, central cornicing and a south-facing bay window looking out over the landscaped gardens. The dining room features a central arch, original ceiling cornicing and large Gothic-style windows. Also off the hallway is the kitchen, which includes a reconditioned Aga as well as an open fireplace. All six bedrooms are situated off a large open landing and five of the six rooms are south-facing. OUTSIDE A shared avenue from the road leads to this wonderful property with views of the surrounding countryside sitting on some 0.8ha (2 acres). The Farm also includes a separate restored one-bedroom cottage with exposed stone walls and Gothic-style windows, open plan living room and kitchen, shower room and a spiral staircase to the bedroom. 6 LOCATION The Farm is located just off the N71 within 6km of Bandon town. Cork Airport 32km and Cork City 38km. Bandon is known as the Gateway to West Cork. A small but busy market town on the River Bandon, and a great region for angling. It has some of the most fertile lands in the West Cork area. It is close for visiting Innishannon, Upton, Crossbarry or Enniskeane, and Dunmanway, Ballinscarthy, Clonakilty, Skibbereen, Belgooly or Kinsale. EDUCATION There are four secondary schools in Bandon. One of these, Bandon Grammar School, is a fee paying Church of Ireland-ethos boarding school. The other schools include Hamilton High School, St. Brogan's and the Presentation Sisters College. BEACHES Beaches close to The Farm include Coolmaine and Harbour View and Tragumna in Skibbereen, and Inchyadoney near Clonakilty. FISHING The Bandon River is an angler s paradise, primarily a salmon and sea trout river but there are also plenty of resident brown trout on all stretches of the river system. The fishing rights on the Bandon River are owned and controlled by a mixture of private land owners, syndicates and various angling clubs.
