Located towards the bottom of Lower Broad Street, just a short distance from Ludlow town centre in one direction, and the River Teme and Mortimer Forests renowned Bread Walk in the other. The layout of the house allows the possibility of semi-independent ground floor accommodation if required by the new owners. Lower Broad Street was first laid out late in the 12th century, with the current house built around 1770 and substantially altered around The Broad Gate at the top of the street is the sole survivor of the seven Medieval gates to the town, dating from World famous civil engineer Thomas Telford advised on reducing the gradient of the street in 1829 to allow coaches an easier climb to the top of the street, which is why the pavements are mostly at a different height to the road. The Lower Broad Street community organises an annual summer barbeque, a communal Christmas meal and takes pleasure in their pavement plant and flower displays. Number 29 was built on land owned by the medieval St John's Hospital and was home in early Victorian times to a stone mason. Enter into the house straight from the street into the Hallway which runs front to back with rooms either side, a typical Ludlow feature of this era, then into the Sitting Room, which has a large fireplace with a wood burning stove, elegant shuttered windows to the street and an alcove to one side and tiny cupboard to the other hinting at the changes this house has undergone over the centuries. The Dining Room has the original fireplace in one corner and has elegant 18th Century plasterwork. The Kitchen and Breakfast Room is perhaps the most interesting portion of the house as it was adapted from the original outbuildings, making a light and airy space with a mezzanine floor above. The Kitchen has a gas fired "Royal" two oven range, plenty of wooden worktop space with cupboards below and a large butler's sink, and there is also a large alcove big enough for a Welsh dresser. The mezzanine is currently used as extra office space and is flooded with light from a skylight above. The Breakfast Room area is also light and airy from the double French doors that lead out into the small and private courtyard garden. There is a Shower Room adjacent, which the current owners have adapted for use as a pantry, although the shower and basin remain.

3 The area leading through to the Office and Bathroom could easily be adapted for semi-independent living if required. The Office has plenty of light from the Velux overhead plus another window, and the Bathroom has a bath, shower, basin and w.c. The first and second floors, as well as the stairs, have lovely elm wooden floorboards. The first floor has two double bedrooms, the larger with an attractive fireplace, and en-suite w.c. and basin. On the second floor there are two further double bedrooms, one of which, rather unusually, has a shower cubicle in the corner. On this floor there is a further separate w.c. and basin. Outside, the rear courtyard is peaceful and private, surrounded on three sides by high walls, with a gravelled area, beds, climbers, roses and shrubs plus an outside tap. It is a natural suntrap and ideal as "lock and leave", with no mowing! Those with a horticultural side will be interested to know that the street has won numerous awards from the RHS and Ludlow in Bloom for its displays.
