This prehistoric chalk figure was cut into the downland anything up to,000 years ago and gives its name to the whole area, the ale of White Horse. Great walking country, the area includes National trails such as The Ridgeway and The Thames Path. Other places to explore include pretty local villages such as Faringdon, historic houses such as William Morris s Kelmscott Manor and the grandiose Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Other great days out could include a trip to the Cotswolds, horse racing at Newbury or Cheltenham, boating on the River Thames, or exploring the shops, colleges and museums of Oxford.

30 How to find us From the M4 (and Swindon) Leave the M4 at junction 15, taking the A46/A419 exit signposted Marlborough, Swindon. At Badbury Roundabout take the Swindon exit onto the A419 Marlborough Road and continue forward. After.1 miles take the exit signposted Gablecross, Stratton, Shrivenham, S. Marston illage and at the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Merlin Way, A420. At the White Hart roundabout take the rd exit and at the next roundabout (Gablecross) take the 2nd exit, continuing forward on the A420. After 2.5 miles, turn right onto Townsend Road, signposted Shrivenham, Highworth, Lambourn (B4000). After just over half a mile, turn left onto Colton Road, taking the 2nd turning on the left, where you ll arrive at Becketts Ridge.
