The grand facade includes columns, detailed stonework and arched dormers. Railings are on the first floor windows. The stairs go up through the centre of the house to the attic: the first two flights are dog-leg and the one into the attic has a quarter turn. For instance, the window bars can be cut away to allow standard square imported wooden windows to be fitted. 7 Community Buildings All Saints Church This pretty little church has some beautiful features. The windows are carved to a highly detailed design with matching inserts on the inside as well. Glazing is supplied which can be painted for a stained glass effect or just marked with a fine point permanent marker to simulate leaded windows. A finely detailed sun dial is on the bell tower. Timber trusses on the roof adds interest to the inside. The three windows in the bell tower have louvers behind them to allow the peel of the bells to ring out. Every other brick was turned to show the end giving an extremely strong wall. Stretcher Bond This is where the long face of the brick is shown. It would have been used on houses where the wall was one brick thick. And then on modern houses where there is a cavity wall construction. Claddings Herringbone Bond Herringbone was used to decorate Tudor houses between the timber frames.
