While the exterior is redolent of a bygone era, the interior includes some fascinating period features but has been senstively updated to provide everything you could want for living today whether this is a permanent home or a weekend retreat. The trendy kitchen incorporates glossy black units, a built-in oven and induction hob, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge-freezer as well as a breakfast bar. As the lounge/diner has large arched windows at either end and high ceilings it is a very light and bright space with stairs to the upper floor. Here, you will find the unique and secluded master bedroom with its beautiful rural views and attractive shower room and accessed via a small private staircase. As you look upwards in the bedroom you can enjoy the delights of the beamed cupola that leads to the roof turret housing the historic mews bell. You also have to go up a few steps to the fascinating family bathroom with its ball and claw bath while, along the corridor, there are three bedrooms, including the guest room with fitted wardrobes. You can park a number of cars outside the courtyard and there is also a double garage available in the garage complex as well as a communal covered car-wash area. There are seating areas outside the cottage in the courtyard as well as at the front of the mews.
5 The current owner says: We are able to look at the stunning views across the parkland and enjoy the gardens without actually having to look after them as there is a gardener available to look after the common areas. We fell in love with the cottage the moment we saw it some six years ago and will be very sad to leave but our circumstances are such that we feel it is time to make a move. It has always been a wonderful holiday home as it is designed to be a lock up and go type of property and there are also friendly neighbours who keep an eye on the place when we are away. We have all the advantages of being able to look at the stunning views across the parkland and enjoy the gardens without actually having to look after them as there is a gardener and handyman available to look after the common areas. There is even a designated picnic area for the use of all the residents and a large croquet lawn where the children can run around. We can go for two-hour walks without actually leaving the park but, at the same time, you can be in Canterbury for shopping in about 20 minutes and Dover docks for the Continent is even nearer. We are only about an hour from London on the high-speed train, while excellent shopping facilities, doctors, hairdressers, pubs and restaurants are only a few minutes away in and around Whitfield.
