6 OUT AND ABOUT Located in Pitstone, Chilterns Edge offers a selection of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes. This picturesque village is situated in East Buckinghamshire and boasts a fantastic combination of country living with excellent transport links. Pitstone can be found within the Chiltern Hills which was officially classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Chilterns Edge is only 2 miles away from the landmark Ivinghoe Beacon which proudly stands 233m above sea level. The Chiltern Hills are formed of chalk cliffs which cover an area of 322 miles. The village was originally recorded in the Domesday book in 1086 but named as Pincelestorne. 4

7 Pitstone features one of the oldest post mills in Britain. The exact date the mill was built is unknown but it has been noted that it was refurbished in The mill, a Grade II listed windmill, produced flour from grain grown in nearby villages which provided residents with a profitable income. In 1924, despite being in a terrible state of disrepair following a fierce gale, the mill was sold to the Hawkins Family. Unable to save the mill, the Hawkins donated it to The National Trust in The mill has since then been restored and is maintained on an annual basis. A short walk into the village from Chilterns Edge, Pitstone boasts local amenities including various pubs, one of which is Grade II listed and dates back to the 16 th century. The village also offers a post office, local shops, pharmacy, library, doctor s surgery and village park. 5

8 The nearby town of Tring has a traditional market town feel. It offers a large variety of restaurants, shops and even its own brewery. It is a delightful market town steeped in history with several listed buildings and paved streets. The Rothschild family chose this town as the location of the first of many Chiltern homes. Further afield, Hemel Hempstead and Aylesbury host a larger collection of restaurants, shops in the Riverside Shopping Centre (Hemel Hempstead) and Hale Leys Shopping Centre (Aylesbury), a leisure centre and cinema. The local golf course, Stocks Golf Club, is exclusive to its members and is a short drive away from Pitstone, offering an 18 hole championship course in a beautiful valley. Chilterns Edge is a fantastic place to call home with its picturesque surroundings and great facilities nearby. 6

9 There is a fantastic selection of primary and secondary schools only a short distance away. Brookmead School, Marsworth Church of England Infant School, Tring School, The Cottesloe School and Cedars Upper School have been judged by Ofsted as Good. Aylesbury Grammar School has an excellent reputation for learning and achievement. Chilterns Edge is well connected to London. There are two stations a short drive away. Tring (3.2 miles) and Cheddington (2.8 miles) both provide a fast, direct service to London Euston in approximately 35 minutes. The A41 dual carriageway can be reached in 15 minutes by car and provides access to the M25 (Jct 20), M1 (Jct 8), and M40 (Jct 1A). 7

At the next mini roundabout, take the second exit onto the B488 Brook Street. BY TRAIN Cheddington is the nearest railway station. We are a 6 minute (3 miles) taxi ride from the station. At the next roundabout, take the first exit onto Westfield Road. Turn right onto the B489 Marsworth Road and continue ahead at the next mini roundabout. Take the fifth turning on the left onto Rushendon Furlong. You will find us situated at the end of the road. 39
