11 Shared Ownership How it works Through Shared Ownership, you pay a ortgage on a share of your hoe s full arket value and a subsidised rent on the reainder. 1 3 We ll help you work out how uch of your new hoe you can afford to buy and how uch you ll rent our price list sets out the incoe and savings requireents to buy through Shared Ownership. When you can afford to, you can start staircasing. The cost of any additional shares you buy will be based on your hoe s arket value at that tie. Shared Ownership is designed so that both your ortgage deposit and your onthly housing costs will be lower than if you were to buy the sae hoe outright. With Shared Ownership, you can increase the share that you own as and when you can afford to. Hoe ownership in affordable stages Shared Ownership is for anyone who cannot afford to buy a suitable hoe on the open arket, but you will need to eet a iniu household incoe requireent (this is calculated on an individual basis), and ust be able to pay for your ortgage valuation survey, legal fees and stap duty (when applicable). A deposit is norally required. We can help you to find a lender and solicitor with low cost hoe ownership housing experience. Each onth, you will pay off soe of the ortgage on the proportion of the hoe you are buying, and pay us a specified rent on the reainder owned by the housing trust. When you can afford to, you can buy ore of your hoe or even own it outright, at the sae price it is worth at the tie that you buy an additional share.
