4 Situation Glen Lonan Estate is situated in a very picturesque part of the West Highlands within a secluded setting with superb views towards Ben Cruachan, Ben Starav and Glencoe and only 12 miles east of Oban. The estate is only 1 mile from the village of Taynuilt. The village provides a range of local services including an excellent grocery store, butcher, a doctor s surgery, hairdresser, post office, two churches, hotel, 9-hole golf course and primary school. There is also a train station with a direct service to Glasgow. The charming town of Oban is the principal commercial centre for North Argyll and known as the Gateway to the Isles and the seafood capital of Scotland. The town has a variety of supermarkets, restaurants, primary and secondary schooling, hospital and ferry ports to the Hebridean islands. Oban airport is 9 miles away with daily flights to Coll, Colonsay, Tiree and Islay. Glasgow Airport (77 miles) provides regular flights to London and a range of national and international destinations. For the sailing enthusiasts there is a marina nearby at Dunstaffnage (10 miles). Historical Note Lonan House is an impressive B-Listed mansion house, constructed in 1906 and designed by Sir Robert Lorimer. The fishings sit within the Glen Nant National Nature Reserve. The current owners have not fished the river in recent years. There are no catch records.
