The building is an imposing example of histori maritime arhiteture. Simple and elegant in style, the façade ombines handsome red brik with limestone dressings. Its entral pediment, arhes and windows are all in the lassial style. The Granary part of the building features a olonnaded ground floor walkway along the water s edge. Evidene of its histori past an be seen in many features inluding the original goods hoists and platforms whih have been arefully retained. 5 Living in a home with history and maritime heritage In restoring the Granary and Bakery, Berkeley Homes had several objetives to meet: retaining its histori harater; reating homes within it to meet all the demands of today s lifestyles; and working in partnership with English Heritage and Gosport Borough Counil to onserve a Grade ll* listed building. These objetives have all been ahieved, and the results are spetaular. The Granary and Bakery is a olletion of homes that are genuinely unique, beause they are within an histori building, they have ertain qualities that are not found in newly built homes. Purhasers will appreiate that unusual details, and surfae finishes showing the patina of age, are all part of the harm of a period building. The Granary and Bakery is a unique struture that is now 200 years old. Although it has had deades of working life, it remains a proud testimonial to the standards of raftsmanship when originally built. Elsewhere, substantial restored wooden beams remain. Cast iron olumns, also restored to their former glory, play an important supporting role, as they have done over the deades.
