13 How to find us Tanners Gate Tanners Gate is well located for easy access to the M27 via the A27. The M27 provides a main artery to Portsmouth and Southampton (both approximately 11 miles away) as well as linking directly to the A3(M) or M3 for journeys to London (approximately 85 miles). A more scenic route to London is via the A32, which runs north from Fareham, through the Meon Valley to Alton and the A31, joining the A3 at Guildford. For a good south coast link, the A27 passes through Fareham and runs from Southampton to Eastbourne. There are railway stations at Swanwick and Fareham, both within easy reach and offering regular services to many destinations including London, Portsmouth and Southampton. (Fastest journey time Fareham to London Waterloo: 1hr 44m). For air travel, Southampton is the nearest airport, whilst London s Heathrow and Gatwick airports are also accessible. By sea, the ferry port at Portsmouth offers crosschannel routes to France, Spain and the Channel Islands, or across the Solent to the Isle of Wight.
