1 CBH Sheltered Housing Information Pack This Information Pack provides a brief guide to CBH Sheltered Housing Schemes in Cheltenham
2 Our Aim To enable customers in Sheltered Accommodation to live independently in their own homes, by providing support and facilitating access to appropriate services What is sheltered housing? Sheltered housing is specially designed accommodation for older people. CBH have nine groups of sheltered housing schemes across Cheltenham, 517 units in total of secure affordable housing. There are variations between the sheltered housing schemes, but mostly they provide the following features. Self contained flat/studio/bungalow with its own bathroom and fitted kitchen Communal facilities such as laundry rooms, communal lounge, communal kitchens for social activities, communal gardens and guest rooms A Housing Support Officer available between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday except bank holidays What are the benefits from living in Sheltered Housing? Good quality housing Your own front door Maintain your Independence Security Being part of a community The Role of Housing Support Officers: To welcome new customers Complete a Support plan and identify any support needs Work in partnership to facilitate access to external agencies and advise customers on the availability of services, e.g. Social Services and other voluntary and statutory organisations Raise awareness and protect residents from abuse - Safeguarding from Abuse Carry out monthly Health and Safety checks accompanied with a tenant where possible Remain professional and courteous at all times Encourage regular contact with all customers Encourage social activities and independence Out of Hours Have access to our 24 hours emergency Control centre 24hour emergency repairs service Housing Support Officers do not: Provide personal care Carry out any lifting and manual handling or administer medication Provide shopping, cleaning, washing and ironing services Handle money and collect prescriptions Page 2 of 26
