3 History ABOUT JSOU I September 2000, uder the leadership of the Uited States Special Operatios Commad (USSOCOM) Commader, Army Geeral Peter Schoomaker, the Joit Special Operatios Uiversity (JSOU) was established as a istitutio of higher learig. Sice its foudig, JSOU has strived to provide the highest quality of joit special operatios forces (SOF) leadership educatio at both the operatioal ad strategic levels. JSOU provides residet, mobile educatio team (MET), distace learig (DL), ad professioal military educatio (PME) courses to the joit SOF commuity. Uiversity faculty members also support seior ad itermediate-level PME programs ad the emergig educatioal requiremets of umerous U.S., iteragecy, ad iteratioal orgaizatios. Missio The missio of JSOU is to prepare SOF to shape the future strategic eviromet by providig specialized joit PME, developig SOF-specific udergraduate ad graduate-level academic programs, ad by fosterig special operatios research, aalysis, ad outreach i support of USSOCOM objectives. 4 ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE Reportig Istructios Studets should report to JSOU thirty miutes prior to the class start time. Parkig Parkig is available o campus i the mai JSOU parkig lot (orth ed of the bldg.) i desigated studet parkig spaces. The last two rows of the parkig lot are reserved for staff members. All other parkig is available o a first-come, first-served basis to all visitors. For those stayig at base lodgig, it is highly recommeded that you keep your car parked i the hotel lot ad walk to the JSOU campus. Idetificatio Badges Studets ad visitors are required to wear JSOU-issued ID badges that are displayed above the waist ad visible at all times. Studets must have a valid govermet-issued ID to receive a studet badge. Studets should remove ad safeguard their badges while off campus. Out-Processig O the last day of class, all studets with a assiged ID badge will be required to retur the badge to the course istructor or the Security Office. However, studets must meet deadlies ad must complete all course requiremets i the time specified i the course syllabus. Articulatio Agreemets ad Academic Parterships I order to facilitate the trasfer of creditable college coursework take at JSOU to degree-gratig istitutios, JSOU has formal arragemets with regioally accredited colleges ad uiversities to iclude Sait Leo Uiversity, Excelsior College, Norwich Uiversity, ad the Uiversity of Charlesto (WV). Articulatio agreemets are expected to be made with additioal schools durig the 2017 academic year. Each of these schools has matched required courses i specific degree programs they offer to equivalet courses give by JSOU.
