1 Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC) Inspection of Churches Measure List of Approved Architects and Surveyors as at 3 rd January This list is arranged on a county basis. 2. It is emphasised that DAC approval applies to individual architects rather than to architectural practices. Only those individuals named against the title of the practice can therefore be regarded as having DAC approval. 3. Practitioners marked with an asterisk are surveyors rather than architects. All are accredited in conservation. Practitioners marked with a plus sign (+) are included on the Register of Architects Accredited in Building Conservation. Since April 2003 English Heritage has required that all work grant-aided by them must be supervised by an appropriately accredited practitioner. All Surveyors on this list are eligible under this requirement, as the RICS has its own accreditation scheme, and only those surveyors who have qualified under that scheme are eligible to be included on this list. 4. The members and officers of the Advisory Committee maintain as close links as possible with the approved architects. Nevertheless it is emphasised that selection and appointment of a practitioner is the responsibility of the PCC. It will be appreciated that matters of professional competence and conduct are entirely beyond the control of the Advisory Committee, and inclusion on this list cannot be taken to constitute any form of guarantee on the part of the Committee. 5.
