Chartland Homes has a wealth of experience in house building and has always been passionate about good design - creating efficient, sustainable but traditional houses. But now with a new in- house design team, we are developing our own unique village hamlet. Conveniently positioned between the historic towns of Shrewsbury and Oswestry, Kinnerley village will proudly boast our first hamlet in the form of eighteen village houses. Our own interpretation of traditional and contemporary living incorporates a palette of materials designed to soften with age whilst providing 'appropriate' homes of character with an exceptional quality of workmanship. Brick and plain tiled terraced cottages sit alongside more a more urban styled Georgian houses on the village green. Lime rendered and stone plinthed Farmhouses sit comfortably around a courtyard of weatherboard barns. Quiet tree lined avenues lead to the elegant gates of a handsome Manor House set in its own grounds. Our attention to detail sets us apart from others; dropped ridgelines that soften the buildings into the surrounding landscapes, intriguing elevational projections that interplay one house with the next, gables, porches, dormers and timber framed coach houses, efficient and practical internal layouts with contemporary open plan living arrangements along side the conventional symmetrical design of Georgian room division. 3 Kinn Cottage, Kinn Lane Forming an elegant frontispiece to the hamlet, Kinn Cottage captures the eye with its curved elevation and low eaves. This simple but spacious three bedroomed cottage is built from the traditional reclaimed style brick with natural slate and local red sandstone that compliments the surrounding architecture perfectly. The chestnut weatherboarding and timber framing of the carport adds a contemporary edge and allows off street parking and direct entrance into the limestone floored kitchen and cloakroom. Around the curve of the house, the front door offers a more formal entrance into the heart of the house, a neat little hallway with open staircase that disguises a utility and boot room. Throughout the interior, pockets of privacy support the largely open plan living arrangement which opens out through French doors to the rear terrace and sizable garden beyond. The staircase reaches the first floor onto a pretty little landing and leads to all three bedrooms, with cottage style latch doors and natural light from the many windows.
