The historic market town of Stanhope in County Durham is situated on the River Wear on the north side of Weardale. Stanhope is the current terminus of the Weardale Railway with Heritage trains running regularly to Frosterley and Wolsingham. The town is also home to an outdoor heated swimming pool, one of only two in the North East of England, and also has a variety of shops, hotels, pubs and B&B s. The Durham Dales Centre offers a variety of facilities for locals and visitors including tea rooms, a tourist information centre, craft shops, conference facilities and business units. The famous Stanhope Agricultural Show is held each year, as it has been since 1834, on the second weekend of September. Accommodation The main working entrance into the farmhouse leads into the utility room, which has stone flagged flooring and provides plumbing for a washing machine and dryer. Accessed off this room is the pantry and breakfast kitchen. The farmhouse kitchen, with a sliding sash window, enjoys views over the land and beyond. There are fitted kitchen cupboards with wooden work surface over, along with a Belfast sink. The kitchen provides space for a dishwasher and also houses the Rayburn which forms the main part of the central heating. Leading off from the kitchen is a hallway, which gives access to a ground floor bathroom with bath with shower over, pedestal wash hand basin, WC and a window to the front elevation. Also accessed from this hallway is a versatile reception room, which the current owners utilise as office and dining space. The room is spacious and bright with three windows and French doors opening to both the front and rear. A large Jøtul wood-burning stove provides a central focal point. Leading off from here is the former dairy room, which is used as a reading room and is fitted with book shelving. The first floor landing provides access to three double bedrooms. Firstly, bedroom one is located above the study/ dining room and has three windows to dual aspects, an attic access hatch, exposed wooden flooring and eaves storage space, which opens out into further attic storage. The second bedroom, located at the other end of the landing, has painted exposed floor boards, an open fire with cast iron inlay and stone lintel surround, two windows to the front, an exposed painted beamed ceiling, a cupboard housing the hot water cylinder and stairs rising to a useful attic room with a window and a vaulted beamed ceiling. Bedroom three offers an attractive cast iron fireplace, window to the front aspect and an exposed beamed ceiling. The house bathroom has recently been upgraded, with free standing cast iron bath, shower cubicle, pedestal wash hand basin, WC, bidet, access to attic storage and wooden flooring. Externally Bushey Flatt Farm enjoys a plot size totalling approximately 9.13 acres (3.69 ha), which includes a variety of buildings, gardens and grazing/meadow land split into five fields.
