4 Situation and Amenities Burrington House is the pre-eminent village house, set back from the village lane behind high stone walls, affording privacy and seclusion. 5 Burrington House This fabulous Grade II Listed village house was a former rectory, originally constructed in 1778 with later additions and modifications. Constructed of rendered natural limestone, under a slate roof, the floors are generally flagstone lias in the cellars and timber floorboards throughout on the ground and first floor. The present owners have lived at Burrington House for about 25 years and have overseen a full and sympathetic restoration of the house, coach house and a significant enhancement of the gardens. Burrington House provides high quality accommodation and exudes all the charm and character of a period house of its age, with classic Georgian proportions and features such as marble fireplaces, shutters and sash windows. 11 Gardens, Grounds and Outbuildings Burrington House has exceptional gardens and grounds maintained to a very high standard. Set in a beautiful rural setting, the mature trees and borders provide an established setting for this fine house and now set up, are relatively easy to maintain with a small team on a once weekly basis. There are many notable trees, shrubs and plants including a Magnolia grandi-flora on the southern façade of the house which is thought to date back almost as far as the original part of the house.
