The Ciy s Nodes and Corridor Sraegy will conform o he reiremens of he Proince s Growh Plan for Norhern Onario GPNO); he Ciy s draf official plan idenifies he sraegic core areas of he ciy as reired by he GPNO. The GPNO is a sraegic framewor ha gides decisionmaing and inesmen planning in Norhern Onario nil 236. Sraegic core areas and heir nodes and corridors will be he preferred locaion for maor capial inesmen in: a) pos secondary edcaion and raining; b) regional hospials andor specialized healh care; c) maor redeelopmen proecs; d) research and innoaion cenres; e) maor clral insiions and enerainmen faciliies; and f) inegraed pblic ransporaion sysems. Prpose This repor proides Concil wih a recommended ciywide Nodes and Corridors Sraegy. The recommended sraegy olines a schedle for he compleion of nodes and corridors design sdies oer he nex year period. Discssion Conex Greaer Sdbry is an imporan cenre in norhern Onario and focal poin for regional inesmen and growh. Greaer Sdbry s role as a regional cenre for bsiness and professional serices higher learning healh and medicine research and innoaion shopping and orism will be solidified hrogh renewal and expansion of exising asses. Sraegic inesmens in infrasrcre and proecs in he meeing and conference secor spors and ars and clre will frher expand or role. Growh in hese economic asses creaes a ripple effec hrogho he economy and will liely fel frher economic and poplaion growh. Srcrally Greaer Sdbry consiss of a large cenral rban area srronded by more han 2 smaller rban and nonrban selemens ha are all ied ogeher hrogh an exensie newor of hard and sof infrasrcre. The Ciy of Greaer Sdbry has already nderaen hree componens of a Nodes and Corridor Sraegy. The Downown Maser Plan was receied by Concil in early 23 while he Town Cenres and Capreol 28 Commniy Improemen Plans were adoped by Concil in 2 and 25 respeciely. The Corporae Sraegic Plan idenifies he LaSalle oleard corridor from Nore Dame Aene o Falconbridge Road and he Chelmsford Town Cenre node as he nex sdy areas for Greaer Sdbry. The Lasalle Corridor Sdy bilds on he momenm gained by Concil s recen Maley Drie decision. I also capializes on he anicipaed redcion in raffic along LaSalle oleard giing he Ciy an opporniy o esablish a new framewor o gide he fre eolion of he boleard.
