2 Seller Insight Situated on the edge of the Herefordshire village of Peterstow, with views over the surrounding cornfields is Bowers Barn, a beautiful barn conversion that was purchased by the current owners ten years ago. The conversion was carried out in the 1980s and we believe it was one of the first barns in Herefordshire to be remodelled into living accommodation, so when we happened upon it, it s fair to say it was in need of some TLC. However we could see its potential and for us the location was absolutely ideal. Over the years we ve added a beautiful garden room, had solar panels fitted to the roof, updated the décor and carried out general maintenance, so it s in great condition. The overall style of the house is quite traditional and there are some stunning features throughout, but we ve also tried to add some quirky elements to give it a more modern feel, and the two styles work tremendously well together. The thing we particularly like about the layout of the house is that all the rooms flow so nicely and the majority are generously proportioned. We have a big open galleried entrance hall, which leads into the dining room and on into the garden room, and the kitchen flows through to the snug, which is a lovely place to retreat to after dinner. It s a house that works well and it s also extremely conducive to entertaining. The garden is a space that we ve gained much enjoyment from. It consists of a lovely big patio terrace, and then the rest of the space is mainly laid to lawn. We have lots of beautiful ornamental trees dotted here and there, and a big old Blue Spruce that sits behind the pond. We ve added a light which shines up through the branches at night, so it s now a beautiful feature. The garden room is gorgeous and really quite impressive. It features the exposed A-frame, from which we ve hung a beautiful contemporary glass chandelier, and it s a very relaxing place to sit and enjoy the beautiful views. Our immediate surroundings are very picturesque and there s an air of peace and seclusion, however, the location is also extremely convenient. I can be in Ross in five minutes, Monmouth in fifteen minutes or Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff in an hour. It s allowed us to experience the best of both worlds. We have a self-contained annex which is set slightly away from the house. We currently use the living accommodation as a games room, but it s also a great place for visiting guests. This has been a real family home and it now needs another family to fill it and enjoy it. PETERSTOW is a popular village situated about 3 miles from the market town of Ross-on-Wye The village itself has the benefit of a Shop Church and Public House. There is a common and some delightful countryside walks. ROSS-ON-WYE well known as the gateway to the Wye Valley, is a market town overlooking the famous horseshoe bend in the River Wye. The town has a variety of most attractive period buildings with a good range of shopping, sporting and cultural amenities. There are three primary schools and a well-regarded comprehensive school. Ross is conveniently positioned for commuting with excellent road links and being located midway between the cathedral cities of Hereford and Gloucester and within about an hour s drive of Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff and Cheltenham.
