2 Hood River County Community Development Agriculturl Building Appliction Definitions And nstructions 601 Stte Street / Hood River, OR (541) FAX (541) pln.dept@co.hood-river.or.us Definitions Agriculturl Building: An Agriculturl Building is structure locted on frm nd used in the opertion of such frm (see below). ORS llows exemption from ppliction of the Stte Structurl Specilty Code to griculturl buildings. Per ORS the Agriculturl Building exemption does NOT pply to the following structures: A dwelling A structure in which 10 or more persons re present t ny one time, unless for the purposes of growing plnts A structure regulted by the Stte Fire Mrshll pursunt to ORS 476 A structure used by the public; or A structure subject to sections 4001 to 4127 Title 42, United Sttes Code (the Ntionl Flood nsurnce Act of 1968) s mended nd regultions promulgted thereunder. Additionlly, the Agriculturl Building exemption does not pply to fcilities used for processing good (mking new or different product from nturlly grown frm product), fcilities where the mjority of the products hndled re from properties not owned or lesed by the fcility opertor, or to storge or shop fcilities ccessory to the dwelling. Frm: Frm use is defined in ORS s the current employment of lnd for the primry purpose of obtining profit from the following ctivities: Rising, hrvesting nd selling crops or the feeding, breeding, mngement nd sle of, or the produce of, livestock, poultry, fur-bering nimls or honeybees or for dirying nd the sle of diry products or ny other griculturl or horticulturl use or niml husbndry or ny combintion thereof, See ORS for further refinement of these definitions. The current employment of lnd for the primry purpose of obtining profit in money by stbling or trining equines including but not limited to providing riding lessons, trining clinics, nd schooling shows. The propgtion, cultivtion, mintennce nd hrvesting of qutic species nd bird nd niml species to the extent llowed by the rules dopted by the Stte Fish nd Wildlife Commission. The preprtion, storge, nd disposl of mrketing or otherwise of the products or by-products rised on such lnd for niml of humn consumption. nstructions for Appliction 1. Obtin the pplicble Required Approvl signtures by submitting your ppliction nd site pln to the vrious gencies. 3. Return the signed ppliction nd the site pln to the County Plnning Deprtment for review. The review process generlly tkes bout two weeks. The Plnning Deprtment stff will conduct deed reserch, review of pst pplictions nd will conduct n on-site visit to verify conditions. 4. You will receive notice in the mil indicting the decision nd requirements for pprovl. You my be required to obtin other permits depending on the systems to be instlled in the building.
