What rle d histrical legacies, path dependence, and past critical junctures play in cntemprary plitics? What are the best methds fr illuminating the influence f the past? What des it mean fr a plitical phenmenn t persist? We explre these and related questins thrugh clse examinatin f an eclectic array f schlarly materials. Curse Requirements Tw-thirds f yur grade will be based n a term paper, due in my mailbx by Mnday, May 12, 5:00pm. Yu are free t chse any tpic yu wish, prvided that it is relevant t the curse. Be sure yu discuss the tpic with me in advance. A nepage synpsis f yur prpsed paper is due in class n March 12. One-third f yur grade will be based n class participatin and sme shrt writing assignments that I will annunce in class the week befre they are due.
