5 UNIMED WEEK IN BRUSSELS Educatin, research and innvatin have an enrmus transfrmatinal ptential in ur scieties. Educatin and innvatin systems, as the essential pillars fr sustainable, inclusive and equitable scieties, have a crucial rle in prmting equal pprtunities, equal access and build emplyability. Since the Barcelna Eur-Mediterranean Cnference in 1995, the EU has stepped up its effrts t achieve ur shared bjectives f a cmmn area f peace and stability, shared prsperity and scial, cultural and human partnership. The internatinal cperatin instruments made available by the EU have largely cntributed t creating bridges amng peples and scieties, reinfrcing scientific dialgue, cultural cperatin, trust, and mutual understanding. EU instruments play a crucial rle in building stable and effective relatins amng Eurpean and Suthern Mediterranean cuntries, and educatin is central t the effrts f the Eurpean Unin. Academic cmmunities, students, faculty members, administratrs, have benefited frm a wide range f prgrammes prmting cperatin, mbility, research, capacity building. The activities undertaken by the Eur-Mediterranean academic cmmunity shw the value f encuraging and supprting this wrk, while als seeking mre synergies in the light f the current multifaceted dynamics and challenges. UNIMED is strngly cmmitted t playing a majr rle in the regin, integrating and synergising key initiatives in research, educatin, and innvatin, as well as in supprting the plitical dialgue. Over the past 27 years, UNIMED has been engaged in small and large-scale initiatives t prmte Eur-Mediterranean academic cperatin, cntributing t scientific, cultural, scial and ecnmic cllabratin. The third editin f the UNIMED WEEK IN BRUSSELS seeks t prpse a plitical reflectin by the Eur-Mediterranean academic cmmunity n the relatinships between Eurpean Institutins and the Mediterranean regin, ffering an pprtunity fr evaluatin and revaluatin f reginal plicies. Cncurrently, this event allws t imprve the knwledge and use f EUsupprted prgrammes in this field, thus facilitating the identificatin f further supprt needs.
