8 Qualificatin f Autmbile Damage Appraisers Since the early 1990s, under Sectin 171 f the Autmbile Insurance Act, GAA: Is respnsible fr qualifying individuals wh want t wrk as appraisers Sets the minimum requirements fr the practice f autmbile appraisal Establishes and administers training prgrams 8

9 Qualificatin f Autmbile Damage Appraisers Since 2006, all appraisers are subject t the qualificatin prcess, whether they wrk fr an appraisal firm r an insurance cmpany. 9

10 Qualificatin f Autmbile Damage Appraisers Since January 2014, anyne wanting t prepare damage appraisals fr heavy vehicles is als subject t the qualificatin prcess and must hld the relevant categry f certificate fr this sectr. 10

12 HVE Qualificatin There are eligibility cnditins fr the Heavy Vehicle and Equipment (HVE) Apprentice Certificate and they are based n skills and minimum technical knwledge. 12

13 The Cnditins Candidates must in particular: r Take the HVE damage appraisal training AND Have training/ experience heavy vehicle bdy repair Have a full-time jb Obtain a Categry L Apprentice Appraiser Certificate Fr full details, visit: Infzne 13

14 A Supervised Apprenticeship Perid... The apprenticeship perid must last at least six mnths. GAA in n way wishes t substitute itself fr the emplyer. GAA wants t wrk with the emplyer t ptimize the apprenticeship perid, which is crucial t the apprentice s career. 14

15 Our Training It s an pprtunity t review all f the bdy, mechanical and electrical theries and practices related t the prfessin as well as damage evaluatin and appraisal methds. 15

16 The Training Since May 2017, training fr heavy vehicle and equipment damage appraisal is ffered twice a year. As with autmbile appraisal, successfully cmpleting this training enables access t an Apprentice Appraiser Certificate (HVE). 16

17 The Training - Heavy Vehicles The training is divided int 20 mdules, cvering mainly damage t trucks and trailers as well as, t a lesser extent, class-a recreatinal vehicles (RVs) and hydraulic equipment.
