COMMUNITY MEETING FEEDBACK Building Layout Site Plan Process Comments / Questions 2 Story building would be difficult for Teachers to maneuver with mobile carts Compact floor plan provides better access for Special Ed teaching Bigger area may need more surveillance Smaller ground floor footprint will not make building feel like a High School Larger building could lead to too many students in the future Adequate Community Use space Adult use Restrooms in all parts of school Location of building in proximity to surrounding houses adequate distance away for safety, sound Parking close to street rather than far into site Building at back of site would be more of a distance for walkers from East Outdoor congregation space play and evacuation areas Green space vs. hardscape surfaces field at back of site away from entrance drive Redistricting fears of being relocated Length of Construction the shorter the better Costs cheaper to build new? When do Rock Creek students get relocated, where are they going? 6

COMMUNITY MEETING #2 Community Meeting #2 Questions: 49 responses 1. Do you prefer a large school or a small school? Large = 45 (92%) Small = 4 (8%) 2. Do you want to keep your existing school and renovate it or do you want a replacement school? Renovate = 7 (14%) Replace = 42 (86%) 3. Is it worthwhile to you to reuse parts of the Waverley or Rock Creek building even if construction will take an additional 6 to 12 months? Yes = 21 (43%) *note, some of the Yes responses also preferred a Replacement school in Question #2 No = 25 (51%) Depends = 3 (6%) 4. Do you prefer the building to be closer to the street or closer to the back of the site (near the homes)? Close to street = 22 (45%) Back by homes = 24 (49%) In the middle / no preference = 3 (6%) 5. Do you prefer to have parking near the street or behind the building? Near the street = 26 (53%) Behind the building = 17 (35%) Both sides = 3 (6%) No response, no preference = 3 (6%) 6. Do you like the idea of a more spread-out one-story building or a more compact two-story building? One story = 10.5 (21%) Two story = 37.5 (77%) PreK 2nd Grades, 1 story. 3 5th Grades, 2 story = 1 (2%) 7

CLASSROOM TEST FIT STUDY Reuse for swing space during Waverley building renovation/ addition work in lieu of additional portables Minimal renovation clean and repaint SF (not counting Toilet Room) SWING SPACE SAMPLE CLASSROOM LAYOUT DEMOLISHED WALLS Renovate as part of the Rock Creek renovation/ addition option Demolish non-bearing walls as necessary for new layout SE RES PLAN For reference Typical classrooms in Butterfly Ridge range between SF (not counting Toilet Room) and are approximately 25 x 34 ROCK CREEK KEYPLAN RENOVATION SAMPLE CLASSROOM LAYOUT 710 SF (not counting Toilet Room) 8

DESIGN OPTIONS Waverley Building Renovation-Addition Option 2 (1019 Students) Demolish west classroom wing Reconfigure cafeteria/ gym wing Reconfigure central classroom wing New two-story classroom addition New gym addition Demolition 9,500 GSF (+/-) Reconfigured/ renovated 44,500 GSF (+/-) New construction 92,500 GSF (+/-) SWM Existing Addition Addition Car parking (80) Car parking (100) Field SITE PLAN 9

DESIGN OPTIONS Waverley Building Renovation-Addition Option 2 (1019 Students) Community Entry Entry Pros: Reuses 2 of 3 existing wings New construction allows for second floor expansion Addition has better ceiling height for classes New right sized gym SECOND FLOOR PLAN Cons: Inefficiencies due to renovation of existing spaces Classrooms in existing wing lack natural light without major renovation of the façade Complex phasing because of the need to renovate kitchen/dining area while it is being used Longer distance from some classrooms to cafeteria/ gym Longest distance in existing Waverley is 280 Layout may prohibit use of Rock Creek building as swing space 525 FIRST FLOOR PLAN 10

DESIGN OPTIONS Replace Waverley Building Option 3 (1019 Students) Demolish Rock Creek building New building on former Rock Creek building location Demolish Waverley building and redevelop site as outdoor play areas and additional parking Ground Floor 104,500 GSF (+/-) Second Floor 31,500 GSF (+/-) SWM Car parking (130) Car parking (50) New School Service Field SITE PLAN 11

DESIGN OPTIONS Replace Waverley Building Option 3 (1019 Students) Entry Community Entry Entry Pros: Classroom wings clustered by primary and intermediate grades Common spaces centrally located between classroom wings New right sized program means more efficient building Very defined public-private area. Allows for easy closing of classroom wing so that the community can use the rest building Centered Main Entry w/ secondary entry to PK-1 wing Can be built while the students are still using the Waverley building FIRST FLOOR PLAN Cons: Demolishing 2 schools Longer distance from some classrooms to cafeteria/ gym SECOND FLOOR PLAN 12
