Markinson I have truly enjoyed my two and a half years as Vice President, and two and a half more years as the President of this organization. When I first became involved with ACI of CNY over seven years ago, I was unfamiliar with most everything about running the group. As time went on, I quickly felt at home and comfortable. Soon I was heading up the concrete portion of the annual awards program. Then I volunteered to run for the Vice President position and won in a landslide, as Dan Haberek put it. A year and a half later I fell into the President s position mid-season. Being Vice President was pretty simple and much to my surprise, fulfilling the President s role wasn tbad either. As President, I truly have had a great time being in charge of this group of professionals; making good friendships that I hope will last for a lifetime. As I step down at the end of this season, I know you will give our next president as much support as I received from everyone during my tenure. Thank you to everyone that attended our meetings and supported ACI of CNY. Before this season is over however, we have our grand finale; and it is a good one. The Design and Installation Awards program for 2009 projects. We have a terrific group of submittals this year for both concrete and masonry, making it a very difficult competition for the judges I am sure. Please plan to attend; you will not be disappointed.

Jim was an integral part of the Essroc team since Jim obtained a Civil Engineering and Master Degree from Windsor University and was a Licensed Professional Engineer for 39 yrs. His contributions to Essroc and the industry were many, both personally and professionally. As the Regional Technical Services Manager, Jim sresponsibilities were focused in Ontario and Western New York, but his expertise was sought throughout Essroc and our industry. His guidance, patience and teachings helped build the technical foundation of many successful careers. To his friends, he was affectionately known for his sense of humor. He will be missed by his wife Judy, sons John and Dan, along with his many friends and associates. A memorial service was held March 5 th, at Walton Memorial United Church in Oakville, ON.
