1 Walsall Town Centre: Regeneration & Development

2 Walsall Town Centre Projects Walsall has seen over 415m of physical investment in the town centre over recent years, including Walsall College, Manor Hospital, Tesco, Walsall Housing Group HQ, Waterfront South residential units, Premier Inn hotel, Primark and Co-op, and the Light cinema and restaurants. The Big Three areas of development opportunity in Walsall Town Centre: 1) St Matthew s Quarter retail-led investment with new Primark store and plans for new Market 2) Walsall Gigaport commercial-led investment in the context of new Walsall College and College Business and Sports Hub, whg offices, and Jhoots Pharmacy office. 3) Walsall Waterfront leisure and residential investment including hotel, multi-screen cinema and restaurants. All in the context of the emerging Town Centre AAP

4 Delivered sites St Matthew s Quarter Asda supermarket 10,355 sqm retail, 41 apartments, 1,000 space car park, 25m investment, 390 new jobs, Completed July Goldmine Centre 2,000 sqm multi-use facility for young people, 2.5m investment, completed Autumn 2012.

5 Delivered sites St Matthew s Quarter Old Square phase 1 Primark and Co-op 7m Council investment to provide 4,000 sqm Primark unit, 900 sqm Co-op unit, 230 new jobs, Primark opened August 2015, Co-op store opened January 2016.

6 Delivered sites Gigaport Walsall College 65m of investment in 24,645 sqm facility, completed September Tesco 10,880 sqm retail and 1,725sqm office space, 700 parking spaces, 55m investment, 200 new jobs, completed December whg headquarters 4,000 sqm 7m investment, 310 jobs transferred, completed in Autumn 2011.

9 Delivered sites Waterfront Waterfront South 322 residential units and 4,800 sqm commercial space, 40m of investment, 13 construction jobs, Completed January Manor hospital 174m PFI investment, Completed October bed Premier Inn hotel, 10m investment, 60 new jobs, completed December 2012.

10 Delivered sites Waterfront Waterfront North Phase 1 7,000 sqm development with multiscreen cinema and accompanying leisure/ retail uses, 12m investment, 250 jobs created, 4 restaurants opened December 2015, cinema opened March 2016.

11 Delivered sites Waterfront Over 55s Well-being Apartments Planning consent for 44 apartments aimed at over 55s, 5m investment, Completed March 2016.

12 Under Construction The Quarter scheme, Digbeth Planning consent for 8,257 sqm retail scheme, Demolition and construction started January 2016, 14m private sector investment, 50 jobs to be created.
