Docent Schedule reminisce 5 Manteca Christmas Parade 6 7 Memberships Museum Contact Info Membership Form 8 Reminiscing about Gnekow by Lillian Vieira & Billy Leah Bertchold On Tuesday, November 21, instead of holding the monthly Reminisce Group meeting, 9 members and 1 guest visited the Gnekow Family Winery (also site of Campus Oaks Winery) on Gawne Road in Stockton. They were enthusiastically greeted by Goldie (half Akita and half Golden Retriever) whom winery staff have affectionately designated the "Assistant Winemaker." After being welcomed by Sales Manager Larry Dyson, the group was led by Cellar Master Aaron Parsons on a guided tour of the receiving, processing, storage, bottling and shipping areas. Next they went to the tasting room where they sampled a variety of wine and enjoyed light Lillian and Frank Vieira, Bill Sarina, appetizers. Several browsed and bought wine and Cleve and Donna Stafford, Linda Schneider, Paula Elias, Mary Jo Sachs other items in the gift shop. Don t forget our membership drive is in full swing, so renew your memberships and sign up your friends and family as new members. Also don t forget that our annual Gourmet Sampler fund raiser will be held on March 11, 2018 at the Manteca Senior Center, tickets will be going on sale soon. Call for more information. Also on March 8, 2018 is our Annual General Membership Meeting for election of officers, every member is invited to attend. We have lots of projects to make our museum tops. Cleaning, research, making new tags, etc, will be some of our tasks. As each one comes along we will ask for volunteers. The City of Manteca will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. We will be participating on Feb 28 for the State of the City at the Transit Center with picture displays of the city from its beginning. If you are interested in helping us, please call the museum. More information to come in the next newsletter! Thanks to all who attended the Christmas luncheon. We had a good time and the food was delicious thanks to Chez Shari. On the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 1:00pm, (February 13) join in as this group of Historical Society folks meet at the museum to discuss days gone by. No need to sign up, just show up! Come and share some old times at the Manteca Museum. Anyone is welcome to come! Bring something to talk about! Reminisce meetings last an hour or two, depending on the subjects and discussions.
