2 STC HOUSTON 35 TH ANNIVERSARY CHAPTER HISTORY CHAPTER BEGINNINGS STC Houston was born July, 1962 when a group of twelve technical communicators petitioned the Society for Technical Writers and Publishers (a predecessor of STC) for Chapter status. Status was granted in January, The Chapter now has over 450 members in the Houston area, a satellite organization in Bryan/College Station, and even more members in Louisiana! CHAPTER AND MEMBER ACHIEVEMENTS AND AWARDS Over the years the Chapter and its members have received recognition for a variety of accomplishments. Society awards and other achievements are listed below and on the following pages. A blank space next to information indicates that data could not be tracked down. Incorrect information indicates a mistake in our records. If you know missing information, see a mistake, or want something added to the document, please tell the Chapter Secretary or President.
