Last Saturday we held two very successful P& C fundraisers The Election BBQ and Cake Stall as well as our major fundraiser for the year, The Big Night Out. A very big thank you to Sally Carman and her team and Fiona Bull and her team for coordinating the events. Without these volunteers these events could not and would not occur. These occasions also need the support of our parents and community members and we thank you for supporting our school, whether it was by donating cakes or sweets, buying a sausage at the Election BBQ, donating prizes or attending the Big Night Out. I have heard unofficially that both events were hugely successful and that we can look forward to upgrading Franc Carter oval in the near future. Yesterday 17 Warrawee students represented Hornsby PSSA Zone at the Sydney North Area Carnival at Homebush. You can read more about their wonderful achievements in the Sports Report. Congratulations to all students who attended and we wish our six Warrawee State Representatives all the best in October. Finally, I would like to thank the entire Warrawee Public School Community (staff, students, parents and community members) for your welcoming, friendly and supportive nature. 2 SPORTS NEWS PSSA This Friday the PSSA teams of cricket, tee-ball and softball travel to Auluba Oval and Field of Dreams to commence our summer draw. The teams will be playing Turramurra PS. SYDNEY NORTH ATHLETICS CARNIVAL Monday 10th September WOW! 17 Warrawee PS students competed at the Sydney North Area carnival yesterday at Homebush. They represented the Hornsby PSSA Zone as Warrawee students. They all are to be congratulated for their sportsmanship, their skill and outstanding efforts that they applied to achieve what they did yesterday. Many of our competitors achieved greater results than they did at the zone carnival due to sheer determination. Incredibly we have six students going to the State Carnival to be held in October this year. They are: The Junior Boys relay team made up of Gregor Dingley, Travis Bazzana, Liam White and Stuart Dingley Mia Hemsworth Julia Vignes Mia Hemsworth had an outstanding day winning her 100m and 200m and coming 3rd in the long jump. Julia Vignes also excelled, coming 3rd in 100m and 200m. Travis Bazzana added to his achievements of the relay by coming 3rd in the long jump. Congratulations to all competitors. GIRL S STATE KNOCKOUT TOUCH FOOTBALL Last Thursday our Girl's Touch Football team played against Gladesville Public School in the 3rd Round of the State Knockout. It was a very evenly matched game with both sides playing extremely well. In the end, Warrawee won 2-nil. All of the girls were the Player of the Match as it was a fantastic team effort. The girls are now into Round 4 where they will be playing against Cherrybrook Public School this Thursday at Cliff Oval. Good luck girls. Result next week. Sue Jurkschat & Paul McSweeney SATURDAY S CAKE STALL & BBQ On Saturday, during the Local Council Election, the Warrawee P&C put on a very successful cake stall and BBQ for the hungry voters. We raised approx. $2,000 for the school and we would like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to the entire school community for providing us with an amazing amount of beautiful cakes, slices and biscuits; the response to our request was overwhelming..well Done to the Warrawee Public School parents! A big THANK YOU also to the wonderful Year 3 parents who gave up their time to help sell the cakes and sausage sandwiches! We could not have done it without your hard work. Special thanks to Bruce Pass and all the wonderful volunteer workers from Warrawee Anglican who helped work the two BBQs for us, we are most appreciative. Lastly thank you also to WEBSTERS MEATS for providing us with the most delicious sausages we had many, many comments from customers who loved them! As parents can provide critical input that is irreplaceable, we would very much appreciate it if you would take your time to fill in the questionnaire by clicking on the link below. It will take about minutes to complete the questionnaire. The survey is being conducted by Rebekah Moles and colleagues at The University of Sydney Thank you, Parisa Aslani, Associate Professor Pharmacy Practice, Faculty of Pharmacy THE UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY Class 1B are participating in Operation Christmas Child which involves packing a box of Christmas gifts for a child who would otherwise go without.
