2 Nestled amongst the trees, old and new collide to create three breathtaking feats of architecture in the Copper Barns. Award-winning architects McGarry-Moon have skilfully fused old and new technologies to create sustainable, rural homes that are designed for the 21st century; homes that whilst referencing the original black stone farmsteads have been dramatically reimagined to create award winning living spaces. Although each dwelling is completely unique, they share the same architectural language and use a blend of salvaged stone, rheinzink, sustainable timber and glass to create contemporary homes that sit comfortably within their rural setting. The Copper Barns are truly unique living spaces that are both striking yet subtle in appearance, never detracting from the original stone barns on which they are set.

4 B A R N 0 1 Barn 01 is characterised by original stone structures, soft understated interiors, contemporary exteriors, and magnificent vistas overlooking Slemish. Using the foundations and outerwalls of the old barn, all original openings have been retained on the ground floor, whilst on the top floor; traditional stone walls merge with new steel framework to create a living space which appears to float seamlessly above the original stone barn. The smooth rheinzink perfectly complements the barn by spreading the warmth of the existing stone walls to the rest of the building. At 110m 2, this dwelling is the smallest of the three Copper Barns yet the skilful use of natural light combined with fluid, open spaces and dramatic exteriors have allowed for the creation of a spacious, modern home that lends itself beautifully to the landscape. Not to scale Loughloughan Road Measurements Enveloped by wildflower meadow, this barn uses a muted material pallet of salvaged black stone, rheinzink, glass and sustainable timber to create a spacious, contemporary home, breathing new life into the original barn on which it so comfortably sits. 6 The largest of the three barns, Barn 03 sits at the highest point of the site, offering uninterrupted views over the Braid Valley and Slemish Mountain, whilst blending effortlessly into its rural setting. B A R N 0 3 Playful by design, this unique home is accessed via an aerial bridged walkway, giving the impression that you re stepping inside your very own treehouse; a floating glass haven nestled amongst the trees. The rheinzink-clad living space is mounted inside reclaimed black stone walls, with the back cantilevered onto the grass verge, and the front hovering over an undercrofted car port, making the building appear to float in mid-air. Floor-to-ceiling glazing also lets the light pour into the bright and airy living space whilst framing the spectacular vistas on all sides. With soft, understated interiors and dramatic exteriors, this is a home that embraces its surroundings and rewards those who live in it.
