Aylesbury offers a comprehensive choice of schools, including Boys Grammar, Girls High School, church and specialist, for all ages. 4 Aylesbury, a bustling town with many attractions of its own students there is Aylesbury College, while The University of Buckingham is some 17 miles away. New amenities in an already well-served town Shopping here is a pleasure, the modern retail areas with their boutique shops contrasting with the old town conservation area. The largest (60-plus unit) shopping centre, Friars Square, has recently attracted additional retailers. Its established stores include a House of Fraser and BHS. Other recent newcomers to Aylesbury include a Waitrose in the town centre (always an indicator of a town s growing status) and an Asda on the outskirts. They compete with a Tesco Superstore, a Sainsbury s and a traditional market held three times a week. There is also a monthly farmers market. It s easy to over-use the word new when it comes to Aylesbury, as this dynamic town just keeps improving. The latest newcomer to the leisure scene is Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, a venue hosting West End and touring musicals and plays. The town already has Queens Park Arts Centre, with its own Limelight Theatre and programme of arts and crafts workshops, as well as an Odeon cinema. For sports and fitness enthusiasts, the amenities include Aqua ale Fitness and Swimming Centre, with indoor and outdoor pools and much more. The centre is set in ale Park, together with tennis courts, a skate park, bowls green and other facilities. The internationally famous Stoke Mandeville Stadium, just south of the town centre, has a great range of facilities for able-bodied and disabled users.
