3 EDUCATION University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Architecture, History of Architecture and Art and Liberal Arts In September of 1972, Reiner attended The School of Architecture UIC. His first-year Studio Professor was Architect, Peter Roesch, a distinguished and accomplished designer and student of the famous Architect, Mies van der Rohe. Professor Roesch recognized Reiner s advanced architectural training and recommended that he leave UIC to start his Internship working full-time at a reputable architecture firm. In January of 1974, he began working full-time as an architectural draftsman while also attending night school. Reiner met all of the Illinois requirements and qualified for the extremely difficult Architect licensing exams in 1983, which had a fruition rate of only 7% per year. The aforementioned strict requirements are considered to be equivalent to a Masters Degree in Architecture by today s standards. Reiner passed all nine (9) - Sections all of the Illinois licensing exams the first-time through (taken in 2- parts and offered only one-time per year in June and September), which was a major accomplishment.
