6 Alsterfleet Housing Admiralitätstrasse Hamburg The whole complex is clearly linked to its position in the urban context of the city and the Alster, an important historical path from the Jungfernstieg, to the harbour The passage also forms the link between the office complex and the residential buildings along the Alster The pedestrian fluxes have been guided along the city across generous arcades, always keeping a close contact to the water The public areas between the building elements have been alternatively developed as green landscape areas The office building in the northern part is articulated with a closed volume at the building's head and gets framed by equivalent office buildings in the east and the west The office units are oriented to the side of the harbour and the city so that it is possible for all of them to be exposed with natural light and supplied with fresh air (text from architect's website) Public access unknown! 2002 Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas Quantum Immobilien AG Hanseatische Projektierungsgesellschaft mbh pkrajewski_pl 6

9 Dockland Office Building Van-der-Smissen-Straße Hamburg At the end of Edgar-Engelhard-Kai, between the northern Elbe and the Fischereihafen, the Dockland Office Building stands like a gateway to the city of Hamburg The 'prow' of the ship-like building cantilevering for almost 40 metres, is a dynamic addition to the 'stern' of the neighbouring ferry terminal The building, supported by a steel-framed construction, contains approximately 9000 square metres of office space The depth of the building makes it possible to locate communication areas such as kitchens or conference rooms as well as archive areas and print rooms within the central zone of the building The large, open areas with freely positioned installations create a generous working atmosphere The users can savour the spectacular panoramic views over the harbour through the glazed façades (text from architect's website) m² BRT Architekten Robert Vogel GmbH & Co KG, Hamburg pkrajewski_pl 9

11 photo: Nazar Leskiw Elbarkaden Green Office Hongkongstraße Hamburg The design of this integrated complex was chiefly determined by two factors: respect for its urban context, and its prestigious waterside location The striking waterfront building, identifiable from afar, and the clear modelling and response to three different uses (Greenpeace, Designport and housing) reinforce the identity of the project, whereby the choice of material (clinker brick combined with generously sized dynamic glass membranes) ensures an integrated overall image The interior design provides workplaces lit from two sides, spatial interest and a variety of meeting places The building is planned integrally, making use of regenerative + grey energies, rain water collection, heat exchange systems and mitigation areas Consideration of building biology in the choice of material, with a optimized building shell, reduces environmental impact and creates optimal living and working conditions 2013 BGP Nazar photo: Nazar Leskiw 11

12 photo: Naomi Schiphorst photo: Naomi Schiphorst Chile Haus Fischertwiete Hamburg This enormous Brick Expressionist building spans a street, the Fischertwiete The building is famed for its top, which is reminiscent of a ship's prow, and the façades, which meet at a very sharp angle at the corner of the Pumpen and Niedernstrasse The best view of the building is from the east Because of the accentuated vertical elements and the recessed upper stories, as well as the curved façade on the Pumpen street, the building has, despite its enormous size, a touch of lightness It was commissioned by the shipping magnate Henry B Sloman, who made his fortune trading saltpeter from Chile, hence the name Chile House The location's close vicinity to the Elbe river necessitated a specially sealed cellar, and heating equipment was constructed in a caisson that can float within the building, so the equipment can't be damaged in the event of flooding 1924 Fritz Höger Henry B Sloman Naomi photo: Naomi Schiphorst 12

13 ADA1 An der Alster Hamburg The building site is situated at the intersection between Hamburg's lively downtown and its urban landscape rich in water and mature trees It is at the transition from city to nature, and the gateway building to the bustling metropolitan core The horizontal striped façade with its floating 'eyes' celebrates the view onto this unique context A public park in front of the building continues the design strategy of the façade into the landscape The 'eyes' in the façade and the platforms in the park form places to meet and contemplate The office spaces serve both a generic spatial layout and specific moments related to the 'eyes' Large spans provide for various office layout configurations in combination with balconies and climatically tempered outdoor spaces of the 'eyes' The office building 'An der Alster 1' links interior and exterior spaces to the public park in front of the building (text from architect's website) Public access unknown! 2007 J Mayer H Architekten Cogiton Projekt Alster GmbH pkrajewski_pl 13

15 photo: Frankss photo: Frankss Office Boat Uferstrasse 8e Hamburg The two-story houseboat in Eilbek channel was designed by two architecture students as an office for an architect and house boat specialist The main feature was the shape of the boat, which was crucial for the choice of materials: only non-treated materials, such as oak rough sawn for flooring and natural aluminium for the façade They will over time change the appearance of the boat The deconstructive language also leads to the fact that with the exception of the floors almost no part of the boat is a flat or vertical surface photo: Frankss Project is not public!
