2 WHY A NEW COURTHOUSE Lack of space in the former courthouse (courts dispersed across 4 other sites in the city) Age of the facilities Inability to align with increasingly stringent safety regulations Need to improve the experience of citizens interacting with the justice system Need to improve the working conditions of magistrates and other employees working at the Courthouse Need for dignified prison conditions Implementation of new technologies Evolution of security requirements Council on Tall Buildings

3 AIM OF THE PROJECT Regroup on a single site all the judiciary of the Parisian courts Provide a state of the art facility for the 550 magistrates, 1,300 government officers, 650 other people working in the building Increase the number of the courtrooms from 26 in the former building to 90 in the new one to welcome appropriately the 6,000 daily public attendees Welcome the 8,500 people entering the building daily in the safest conditions Increase the security of the Courthouse Provide dignified conditions for detainees Provide a full access to the facilities for disabled users Council on Tall Buildings

5 THE SITE A former train station and National Rail maintenance facility redeveloped into a mixed use neighbourhood and park The Courthouse is located at the North of the development area on the edge of the city ring road.
