The construction of Loop Road No.2, between Toranomon and Shimbashi, has been a long time coming. It was originally adopted as part of city planning in 1946, but integrating the construction of the road with redevelopment only became a reality when legislation for the ulti-level Road System was passed in That made it possible to achieve the consensus with local residents that led to the realization of the project. The main road of Loop Road No.2 is contained within the underground tunnel, allowing generous open space for pedestrians at ground level. Once it is linked to the bay area, as planned, the new road is expected to also drastically improve accessibility to and from aneda Airport.
