5 Susan Robertson, Heather Broadbent and Bob Hulley made a presentation entitled "Humber River Watershed Heritage Bridge Inventory", which included the following topics: First Inventory Priority Table: Municipal Heritage Bridges and Crossings along the Humber River Assessment Criteria Why are there not more Heritage Bridges Caledon Trailway East Culvert - Caledon Sneath Bridge - Caledon Major Mackenzie, McEwen and Langstaff Bridges - Vaughan Humber River Bicycling and Pedestrian Bridge - Toronto Next Steps: Preserve, Protect and Promote Wiley Bridge - Brampton The Heritage Canada Foundation - Heritage Sub-Committee Members - National Achievement Award Recipients Heritage Sub-Committee Members Crossing the Humber Publication Ms. Robertson, Ms. Broadbent and Mr. Hulley responded to questions from the Board on the following topics: Lead contact for the project (Susan Robertson) Bridge rehabilitation process towards heritage tourism Restoration of pedestrian bridges versus vehicular bridges Bridges along the trail systems in Caledon and Vaughan Incorporation of the Wiley Bridge in Brampton into the trail system that runs from Brampton to Toronto Trails Open Brampton - Claireville Conservation Area Board's potential role in the next steps of the project The Board discussed its potential role in the next steps of the project. A suggestion was put forward that this matter be referred to the Board's Heritage Resources Sub-Committee for consideration. The following motion was considered. HB That the following delegations, to the Brampton Heritage Board Meeting of November 15, 2011, re: Humber River Bridge Inventory (File G33), be received: Susan Robertson, Project Manager, Watershed Planning, Toronto and Region Conservation Heather Broadbent, Co-Chair, Humber Watershed Heritage Sub-Committee Bob Hulley, Member, Humber Watershed Heritage Sub- Committee Page 5 of 12

Heritage Resources Sub-Committee (Designations, Cultural Landscapes, Heritage Inventory, Development Applications, Heritage Incentives) F Heritage Resources Sub-Committee - November 7, 2011 (FileG33). The Board reviewed the subject minutes and considered the following motion. HB That the of the Heritage Resources Sub-Committee Meeting of November 7, 2011 (File G33), to the Brampton Heritage Board Meeting of November 15, 2011, be received. F 2. Outreach and Marketing Sub-Committee (Historic Plaque Program, Newsletter, Projects, Events, Awards) F Outreach and Marketing Sub-Committee - October 26,2011 (FileG33). The Board reviewed the subject minutes and considered the following motion. HB That the of the Outreach and Marketing Sub- Committee Meeting of October 26, 2011 (File G33), to the Meeting of November 15, 2011, be received Page 6 of 12

No updates were given with respect to heritage designation of the properties. G2. Recent Designations - nil H. Churchville Heritage Conservation District - nil I. Heritage Impact Assessments Dixie Road - Ward 9 (File G33): Staff Comments Heritage Impact Assessment Stavroula Kassaris, Heritage Coordinator, Planning, Design and Development, provided an overview of the Staff Comments, highlighting the recommendation outlined within. Board consideration of this matter included: Questions about the barn referenced in the subject Heritage Impact Assessment and Staff Comments Inventory rating and rarity of the masonry house and questions about the potential for restoration and re-use of the house in the proposed development Concerns about the state of disrepair of the masonry house Questions about measures taken to secure the property George Poulias, of Metrus Development Inc., the property owner, was in attendance and provided the following in response to questions from the Board: Confirmation that Metrus applied for, and received, a demolition permit for the barn Details about the condition of the barn prior to demolition and salvaging of the barn materials Information about the condition of the masonry house prior to Metrus' ownership, and details about the structural condition of the house Details about measures taken by Metrus to secure the property Page 7 of 12
8 Staff Comments from Stavroula Kassaris, Heritage Coordinator, Planning, Design and Development, dated October 20, 2011, re: Heritage Impact Assessment Dixie Road - Ward 9 (File G33); and, Ul m& A motion was introduced to support the recommendation outlined in the Staff Comments, as amended to delete references to the barn. The motion was voted on and lost. Further consideration of this matter by the Board included: Questions about the timelines for the proposed demolition of the masonry house Request for more information about the recommended mitigation measures and use of any salvaged materials Use of the salvaged materials in an enhanced entry feature or within the landscaping Suggestion that the subject Staff Comments and Heritage Impact Assessment be deferred to the Board's January 2012 meeting, to allow more time for Members to review the proposed mitigation measures and for the applicant to provide more specific details on the proposed mitigation measures Mr. Poulias outlined efforts by Metrus toward heritage preservation in the City, highlighting its role in the Habitat for Humanity Elliott House Restoration Project. In response to questions from the Board, he provided the following: Proposed timelines for demolition of the masonry house Acknowledgement of and agreement with the Board's request for more time to review the subject documents Details on the condition of the interior materials and reasons why these materials cannot be salvaged Details on the proposed uses of the exterior salvaged materials within the subject lands Suggestions about the potential use of the exterior salvaged materials within Metrus' residential development across the road from the subject lands Indication that he will provide more specific information to the Board about the proposed uses of the exterior salvaged materials The following motion was considered. HB That the following documents, to the Brampton Heritage Board Meeting of November 15, 2011, be deferred to the Meeting of January 17, 2012: Page 8 of 12
9 Heritage Impact Assessment prepared Scarlett Janusas, Archaeological and Heritage Consulting and Education, for Metrus Development Inc., dated September 11, 2011, re: Dixie Road - Ward 9 (File G33). J. Status Updates (when new information is available) J 1. Restoration of Alderlea - Designated Heritage Property - 40 Elizabeth Street South - Ward 4 Alex Taranu, Manager of Urban Design and Public Buildings, Planning, Design and Development, introduced Bettina Takacs, Project Manager, Special Projects, Planning, Design and Development. Mr. Taranu and Ms. Takacs provided an update on the restoration of Alderlea, which included information on the following topics: Status of construction and proposed timeline for substantial completion Restoration of the Belvedere Proposed schedule for construction of the addition Documentation and protection of the heritage elements found during restoration Information provided to area residents and the public at large K. Correspondence - nil L. Other/New Business L 1. Application for a Grant under the Designated Heritage Property Incentive Grant Program - 77 Main Street South - Ward 5 (File G33): Copy of Application Staff Comments Antonietta Minichillo, Heritage Coordinator, Planning, Design and Development, provided an overview of the subject grant application and details on efforts by staff to find information on the original porch. The Board reviewed the subject grant application and considered the following motion. HB That the application from Pierre and Colleen Beaumier, dated October 11, 2011, to the Meeting of November 15, 2011, re: Application for a Grant Page 9 of 12
10 under the Designated Heritage Property Incentive Grant Program - 77 Main Street South - Ward 5 (File G33) be received; and, 2. That the Staff Comments from Stavroula Kassaris, Heritage Coordinator, Planning, Design and Development, to the Meeting of November 15, 2011, re: Application for a Grant under the Designated Heritage Property Incentive Grant Program - 77 Main Street South - Ward 5 (File G33) be received; and, 3. That the subject grant application for porch restoration be approved for the maximum amount of $5,000.00, subject to any applicable City building and/or heritage permit approvals, and review and approval of the final design by City staff if required. ' L 2. Heritage Report: Reasons for Heritage Designation - Reid Farmhouse -118 Royal West Drive (Formerly 9521 Mississauga Road) - Ward 6 (File G33). Stavroula Kassaris, Heritage Coordinator, Planning, Design and Development, provided an overview of the subject report. Board consideration of this matter included: Questions about preservation of the post (said to be a surviving artifact from a 19th century legislative building in Toronto) and confirmation from staff that the post is to be retained Potential future uses of the building Location of heritage elements that were salvaged from the farmhouse Relocation of the farmhouse from its original location The following motion was considered. HB That the report from Stavroula Kassaris, Heritage Coordinator, Planning, Design and Development, dated November 2011, to the Meeting of November 15, 2011, re: Heritage Report: Reasons for Heritage Designation - Reid Farmhouse -118 Royal West Drive (Formerly 9521 Mississauga Road) - Ward 6 (File G33), be received; and, 2. That the endorses heritage designation of the subject property; and, Page 10 of 12

Discussion re: Proposed New Date for the Joint Meeting of Municipal Heritage Committees of Peel (File G33). Board discussion on this matter included: Details from Michael Avis on the rationale for consideration of a new date for the Joint Meeting of Municipal Heritage Committees of Peel Previously selected date for the meeting (Friday, June 15, 2012) Suggested new dates for the meeting (including Friday, June 22, 2012 and Wednesday, June 27, 2012) Proposed venues for the meeting The following motion was considered. HB That the new date for the 2012 Joint Meeting of Municipal Heritage Committees of Peel, to be hosted by the City of Brampton and the, be confirmed as Friday, June 22, L 4. Discussion re: Meeting of December 20, 2011 (FileG33). Discussion took place with respect to the need for a Board Meeting in December 2011, and the following motion was considered. HB That the Meeting of December 20, 2011 be cancelled. L 5. Verbal update from Alex Taranu, Manager of Urban Design and Public Buildings, Planning, Design and Development, re: Beatty House Steeles Avenue West - Ward 6 (File G33). Alex Taranu, Manager of Urban Design and Public Buildings, Planning, Design and Development, provided a verbal update on the Beatty House, which included: Page 11 of 12
12 Background information on efforts by the City toward preservation and re-use of the Beatty House Council's subsequent approval for demolition of the house and the reasons for this approval Information about compensation from Orlando Corporation for the demolition, to be designated to a specific City Heritage account Advisory that compensation received will be used toward preservation of significant heritage buildings owned by the City Details on efforts by staff toward salvaging of materials and elements and commemoration plans The following motion was considered. HB That the verbal update from Alex Taranu, Manager of Urban Design and Public Buildings, Planning, Design and Development, to the Meeting of November 15, 2011, re: Beatty House Steeles Avenue West - Ward 6 (File G33) be received. M. Information Items - nil N. Question Period N 1. In response to a question about the potential role of the Board in deciding how funds provided by developers as compensation for demolition of heritage resources would be used, Alex Taranu, Manager of Urban Design and Public Buildings, Planning, Design and Development, advised that the Board can provide its advice, that staff will formulate recommendations for use of the funds, with Council providing final approval.
