6 You choose an area... Croes-y-Garreg is an exclusive development in the town of Croespenmaen offering a range of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom family homes. Croespenmaen sits in the beautiful county of Caerphilly between Crumlin to the east and Oakdale to the west, with nearby towns and villages including Blackwood, Abercarn, Newbridge, Cwmbran, Abercynon, Ystrad Mynach and Bargoed. The town of Croespenmaens is most famous as being home to the Pot Noodle but the region has a lot more to offer than this fast food phenomenon. The County Borough of Caerphilly is located in the heart of southern Wales and straddles the ancient county boundaries of Monmouthshire and Glamorgan. With its distinct history and heritage, and once an early medieval kingdom, the area that became known as Glamorgan was a conflict point between the Norman lords and the Welsh princes, with the area being defined by a large concentration of castles, Caerphilly Castle to name one. Croespenmaen is also well situated for the best that South Wales has to offer for those interested in outdoor pursuits. Cwmcarn Forest, just a few miles away, offers something for all the family. The hills of this previously mined area have been transformed into peaceful forests with impressive views. It is difficult to imagine that some of the surrounding hillsides were once slag heaps with hardly a tree to be seen. The Forestry Commission started to plant trees here in 1922 and today it has become a haven for people and wildlife. You can head for the hills by car to take in the breathtaking views and then settle at one of the many picnic and BBQ spots to relax. While there you can also experience some of the best walking in Wales with routes to suit all abilities as far as Twmbarlwm hillfort at the summit if you re keen for some staggering panoramic views as far as the English coastline across the Bristol channel or alternatively the Sirhowy Valley Walk and the Ebbw Valley Walk are both within just a couple of miles of Crosepenmaen. For the more energetic there are superb opportunities for mountain biking all year round at the Twrch Trail, offering testing climbs, swooping descents and demanding technical sections through stunning landscapes. The County has a broad range of shopping centres offering a diverse blend of independent retailers, high street names and cosy cafés. Each town has its own unique architecture, derived from a rich and varied cultural heritage which gives them their distinctive style and character. Many towns and villages also feature eye-catching and imaginative pieces of public artwork, including sculptures, mosaics and murals providing visual interest and also stimulating a sense of local pride. Just 10 miles from Caerphilly itself and less than 20 miles from Cardiff, these homes at Croes-y-Garreg are in a perfect location to enjoy a fantastic blend of activities, stunning countryside and first class attractions. The M4 motorway is less than 30 minutes by car for travelling further afield or else it s just 2 miles to Newbridge station for connections by train to Ebbw Vale Parkway (17 mins), Cardiff Central (42 mins), Swansea (1 hour 49 mins) and London Paddington (3 hours), to name but a few destinations.
