Proposed Security of Payment Legislation The Annual General Meeting 2017 Honorary Secretary Report 7 December 2017 There are currently 189 HKIA Registered Practices. There are currently 68 Registered Practices on the List of Band 3 Architectural Consultants. Regarding the letter from DEVB dated 16 June 2017 about the decision of adopting the claimant propose-respondent select procedure (Option 4), HKIA, HKIS, AAP and ACQS issued a joint reply to DEVB on 6 October 2017, seeking DEVB s clarifications on whether any adjudicator can be selected by claimant and respondent before entering the default nomination procedure, in which adjudicator and appointment of adjudicator should be under Adjudicator Nominating Bodies. 4. Meetings attended HKIA attended the 26th Communication Meeting between HKIA, AAP, DEVB and ArchSD on 16 October nd HKIA Adjudicator Accreditation Programme 6. HKIA BIM Seminar Series The training programme was successfully held. The assessment was held on 4 November The second seminar was successfully held on 27 September speakers from Autodesk and Graphisoft shared their views on the following aspects: Design/Presentation Aspects: Design and Project Collaboration with BIM Sustainable Design Check: Built Environment & Energy Analysis Design Automation: Parametric Design & Algorithmic Design Workflow Board of Local Affairs (BLA) 1. Nominations Mr. CHAN Chung Yee Albert was re-nominated to CIC for Construction Workers Review Board for the new term of 3 years commencing 1 February Mr. LO Chun Wai Dicky was re-nominated to BD for Technical Committee for Code of Practice for Demolition of Buildings for the new term of 3 years. Mr. CHAN Sze Chung Peter was re-nominated to BD for Technical Committee on Minor Works Control System for the new term of 3 years. Local Affairs Written submission on Consultancy Study on Smart City Blueprint for Hong Kong was delivered to Innovation and Technology Bureau on 30 September HKIA attended the focus group meetings regarding licensing of property management companies and professionals on 13 and 19 October 2017 respectively. 3. CPD Events CPD site visit to Skypark was held on 29 September FSD-HKIA Technical Seminar was held to update members about various types of submissions to Fire Services Department, fire services installation compliance checking and inspection process, and application for dangerous goods licence on 7 October The briefing on Action Plan for Enhancing Drinking Water Safety in Hong Kong was delivered by Water Supplies Department to HKIA members on 8 November Board of Educational Affairs (BEdA) 1. Continuing Return of CPD Declaration Form 2017 Professional As at 8 November 2017, 3938 members (91%) had submitted Development their CPD Declaration Forms. PA rd Quarter Papers 3, 4 and 5 Passing rates are as follows: Paper 3 Building Structures Paper 4 Building Services and Environmental Controls Paper 5 Building Materials and Technology 38.10% 43.36% 54.55% One candidate passed all written papers and eligible to take Professional Interview. PA th Quarter Papers 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8 Date : November 2017 No. of candidates : 459 Professional Interview on 27 September 2017 Among 68 candidates (including 1 applicant via Non-Local Architectural Professionals Admission) attended the interview, 46 candidates (68%) passed. PA 2017 Papers 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 Lecture & Seminar Series and Foundation Lectures Last foundation lecture on Paper 1 Statutory Controls, delivered by Mr. Rembert LAI, Ms. KWONG Sum Yee Anna and Mr. Arthur TONG, was organised on 21 October Portfolio Assessment and Academic Qualifying Assessment Applicants were required to provide proof on verification of the authenticity of their submitted portfolios as well as their English proficiency as equivalent to HKDSE English Language Level 3. Nomination of Advisers and Office Supervisors for PA 2018 As at deadline on 31 October 2017, a total of 191 nominations were received. Belt and Road Initiatives HKIA Belt and Road Experience Sharing Session Date: 26 September 2017 Venue: Shenzhen Number of attendees: over 130 attendees, including HKIA members, representatives of mainland architectural firms, developers and contractors in Guangdong The Sharing Session aimed to provide both Hong Kong and Guangdong practices with a platform to share the experiences and challenges in projects in Belt and Road region. 2. Liaison Visit Project Visit to Suzhou Centre ( 蘇州中心考察團 ) Co-Organizers: HKIA and HKIS Date: 21 October 2017 Number of attendees: 10 HKIA members During the visit, participants were given a brief introduction of the Project. 9 1. HKIA Annual Awards 2015/16 A press conference was held on 26 October 2017 to announce the results of HKIA Annual Awards 2015/16. Exhibition of awarded and finalist projects were held from October 2017 at Pacific Place. A total of 10 awards were given out to 10 outstanding projects designed by HKIA Members. A public voting on My Favourite Project was held during the exhibition. Public voted for their most-liked 3 projects. 2. HKIA Annual Dinner 2017 Date: 18 November 2017 Guest of Honour: The Hon Mr. Matthew CHEUNG Kin Chung, GBM, GBS, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR Government HKIA Annual Awards 2016/17, Young Architect Award 2016 and HKIA Student Medals 2016 & 2017 were presented at the Annual Dinner. UABBHK2017 official website: uabbhk.org UABBHK2017 Facebook Page: 2 The 16th Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition (VB2018) 3 HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Symposium and Awards 2017 (CADSA) Public Exhibition Period: 26 May to 25 November 2018 Preview Period: 24 and 25 May 2018 Venue: Campo della Tana in Venice, Italy The open call for curator was announced on 8 August 2017 and 5 proposals were received by the submission deadline on 4 September After two rounds of interview on 14 and 20 September 2017, Professor WANG Weijen was appointed as the Chief Curator of VB2018 on 6 October The exhibition is currently seeking funding from CSI under Create Hong Kong with a budget amounting to HK$8.6M. The approval is subject to CSI. 2 Roving Exhibitions in Hong Kong or Cross-Strait Cities After the core exhibition of CADSA done in mid-august at Hong Kong Design Institute, the first roving exhibition was confirmed to be held at ifc Main Concourse from January The venue of 2 nd roving exhibition in January 2018 has yet to be confirmed.
