I wondered if, we as a profession, are not focused on beach houses and second homes, and neat little tourist sites, or are we facing the avalanche of urbanisation straight on. Will history push us aside as the court jesters of the rich and idle? While these are critical thoughts of our profession and my own work, they are not critical of reactions of your conference. 12 2010 The intention for the 361 Conference 2010: Design and Informal City was to veer the debate on questions of physical form and explore the possibilities of alternate spatial imagination to integrate, in physical form (urban form and typology). The two day conference featured lectures by 23 renowned architects, urban planners and urban practitioners.
