2 17 th, 18 th February, 2016 Nehru Centre, Mumbai One of the oldest and most respected design forums in India, the 361 Conference is an initiative by Indian Architect & Builder, under the aegis of Jasubhai Media, to inspire a truly relevant discussion on architecture. The Conference establishes a thought exchange program with lectures and discussions chronicling a multitude of ideas and innovations that have had a significant impact on our habitats. Through the years, the conference has connected various disciplines of design, by offering dialogue opportunities of across essential themes like DIS- Discourse, Intuition & Syntax in Architecture, Architecture & Identity, Architecture of Purpose, New Spirit in Architecture, Design & Informal Cities, Earth Matters, Imagining Urban Futures, Material Innovations. As an Eclectic, thought provoking and egalitarian platform, 361 in its ninth edition will continue to articulate the power of thoughts and ideas, thus capturing the progressive nature of design an creating in its wake a forum for the emerging and influential practices in the Indian subcontinent. It will also connect with construction fraternity.

5 ARCHITECTURE AND THE CITY ARCHITECTURE URBANISM SUSTAINABILITY 17 th, 18 th February, 2016 Nehru Centre, Mumbai The conference intends to create a platform to allude that the City is much more than an accumulation of buildings, construction, and architecture they also comprise public spaces such as parks, squares, streets and alleys that are equally significant components of the urban fabric. The built and un-built environments are in a constant relationship with each other sometimes conflictual, ideally harmonious and symbiotic are integral to the form and function of our cities which we must constantly explore to institute and develop. Since the year 2008, for the first time in human history, half of the world's population now lives in cities. If we are to design or build future cities which are genuinely sustainable, the three basic principles that justify an eco-friendly living are: architecture, urbanism and sustainability being closely interwoven and interdependent. 361 Conference 2016 will attempt to highlight the urgent need to comprehend the role of the architecture of cities as both agents of change and catalysts of survival at a time when climate change has grabbed the attention of the world and become an imperative fragment of the basic framework for designing cities.
