Type of Activity GMM Seminar Socio-Civic Others The 4 th General Membership Meeting for FY of UAP-Cavite Chapter was held at the Bahay ng Arkitektong Kabitenyo in Imus City last October 28, 2017 with a good number of 45 Cavite Architects in attendance. The 4 th A.K.S.E.P. did not materialize as the speaker was not able to come due to some unexpected circumstances but as they say, the show must go on, and so important matters were thoroughly discussed and the upcoming activities and events were announced. Also happened was the product presentation of Republic Cement (formerly La Farge) headed by Mr. Reynaldo Del Rosario and Ms. Camille Anne Lara. Other GMM sponsors include Home Builders Magazine and Boysen Paints. The meeting ended with a Halloween Party where a costume contest was also held. Arch. Raymund Corcuera s zombie-inspired construction worker attire bagged the 3 rd place; Arch. Martin Almeda s monster-looked medieval monk outfit landed the 2 nd spot; and Ar. Kenn Valero s Jack Skellington of Nightmare Before Christmas emerged as the top prize winner. Both the 10 consolation winners and the 3 topnotch received cash prizes from Boysen Paints. 3 ACTIVITY NO. 5 Title of Activity 4 TH BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Date OCTOBER 22, 2017 Total Attendees 13 ARKITEKTONG KABITENYO Venue Rm. 137, Fort Ilocandia Resort, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte To create and later on, put into actions the entire plans and programs of the chapter for this fiscal year. Type of Activity GMM Seminar Socio-Civic Others: Board of Directors Meeting It was like hitting two birds with one stone as the 4 th Board of Directors Meeting was held at Fort Ilocandia Resort last October 22 (the morning before the chapter s departure from Ilocos Norte) attended by 13 Cavite Architects (9 Board of the Directors and 4 Chapter Members). Included in the agenda were the upcoming UAP Regional District B3 Assembly to be held at Filinvest Tent, Alabang; the 4 th General Membership Meeting with Halloween Costume Party; the 6 th General Membership Meeting with Christmas and Thanksgiving Party; the upcoming ICONS 2017; update on the nomination of Arch. Richie Corcuera to the UAP College of Fellows; and the sophomore year of the award-wining, UAP Best in Media and Public Relations Program, the AK Happy Day which will be held this time on a chosen orphanage within Cavite in collaboration with the UAPGA-Cavite. 4 Title of Activity ACTIVITY NO. 2 AK JOINS INAUGURATION OF THE NEWLY- RENOVATED WARD IN GRACES Total Attendees 18 ARKITEKTONG KABITENYO Venue Date OCTOBER 2, 2017 To formally turnover and award the newly-renovated ward for our abandoned elderly. GRACES Home for the Elderly, Quezon City Type of Activity GMM Seminar Socio-Civic Others Another successful partnership and a heartwarming spectacle to date as UAP-Cavite joins Mr. Ted Failon and his program Failon Ngayon, UAP Bayanihang Arkitektura, industry partners, notable sponsors and avid donors to bring smiles to our abandoned elders in GRACES (Golden Reception and Action Center for the Elderly and other Special cases) as they inaugurated and turned over the newly-renovated Tamundong Ward of GRACES in Quezon City. After UAP-Cavite joined and helped in various CSR programs through the years, it was a very good and timely project in celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week, the World Day of Architecture, the 18 th Anniversary of Failon Ngayon and the 30 th Anniversary of TV Patrol. It also serves as a pre-christmas gift for our beloved Lolos and Lolas. It was another huge success not just because of being accomplished but the mere fact that it brings hopes and inspirations to the beneficiaries. The project came into reality and perfection with the kindest help and collective efforts between the City Government, private organizations, generous sponsors, and other various benefactors. Type of Activity GMM Seminar Socio-Civic Others In account of giving continuing professional education to the general members and to the profession as a whole, UAP-Cavite Chapter hosts a whole day seminar in line with the celebration of the World Architecture Day 2017 with the international theme, Climate Change Action and local theme, Luntiang Gusali at Kapaligiran: Pangangalaga sa Ating Kalikasan. Accredited with 6 CPD units, the seminar was well-attended and well-patronized. Dubbed as, AK Going Green, the organizing committee headed by the chapter s Chairman on Education, Arch. Juanito Sy, had tapped some of the industry pioneers and top-calibre experts as guest speakers; Arch. Micaela Rosette Santos with her very timely topic about, The Philippine Green Building Code and GREEEN Rating System ; Arch. Von Gerald Azagra with his talk entitled, The 21 st Century Recreational Spaces in Urban Landscape ; and lastly, our very own, UAP Secretary General and UAP-Cavite Past Chapter President, Arch. Renato Heray, fuap, aa, with his very lively and informative discussion on, The Introduction to Landscape Architecture. 8 Title of Activity ACTIVITY NO. 4 ARKITEKTONG KABITENYO JOINS UAP JOINT AREA ASSEMBLY 2017 Total Attendees 17 ARKITEKTONG KABITENYO Venue Date OCTOBER 20-21, 2017 Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte To enjoin all UAP areas in one assembly wherein cooperation and unity transcends among each other. Type of Activity GMM Seminar Socio-Civic Others: Joint Area Assembly The Arkitektong Kabitenyo headed their way to the City of Laoag, Ilocos Norte to participate in the UAP Joint Area Assembly With the theme, BUKLOD: Transcending Unity Within, UAP Chapters take pride and milestone once again as they generously supported and extensively worked hand-in-hand on two (2) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of this year s JAA, the BOOK-LOAD, a Mobile Mini Library for the Displaced Children of Marawi, and LUNTIANG- MULI, a tree-planting activity of 2000 seedlings for the reforestation of Nueva Era in Ilocos Norte. The assembly was well-attended by an overwhelming 900+ Architects and seventeen (17) of them were delegates from Cavite. The momentous event commenced last October 19, Day 0, NBD and Chapter Presidents Meeting and Night at Plaza Del Norte Hotel and Convention Center; October 20, Opening Ceremonies, General Assembly, Seminars, and Welcome Dinner at Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena; and lastly, October 21, Ilocos Norte Heritage Tour (Paoay Church, Sitio Remedios, Sta. Monica Parish Church, Malacañang of the North, Burgos Windmills, Cape Bojaedor Lighthouse), Thanksgiving Mass, Closing Ceremonies, and Dinner Fellowship at Paoay Sand Dunes sponsored by Davies Paints. 10 ACTIVITY NO. 1 Title of Activity ARKITEKTONG KABITENYO JOINS UAP B3 s CORREGIDOR HERITAGE TOUR Date OCTOBER 1, 2017 Total Attendees 5 ARKITEKTONG KABITENYO Venue Corregidor Island, Cavite City To discover, marvel and unravel the rich history and diverse contributions of the remote island that plays a vital role on the development and enrichment of culture and architecture. Type of Activity GMM Seminar Socio-Civic Others: Heritage Tour The UAP Regional District B3, one of UAP s most solid and unified districts held a one-day Heritage Tour in Corregidor Island, Cavite City last October 1, With an outstanding attendance of 60 active members/officers from the different local chapters under B3, the event is said to be a fruitful and successful one. The event was spearheaded by Immediate Past District Director, Arch. Elmer Borlaza in cooperation with District Director, Arch. Ed Samson and District B3 Chapter Presidents, with UAP-Fort Bonifacio Chapter as host and working committee. The troop departed from the ferry terminal (Mall of Asia) at 7:30 in the morning via Sun Cruises and arrived at North Mine Wharf or Corregidor Port at around 9:00 a.m. The B3 Architects were divided into three (3) groups in which each group will ride on a designated Tranvia (the only means of transport within the island) together with the assigned tour guides. The Architects were given the chance to take photographs (while on and out board), to feel the place (while on a minute roam), and to listen and learn to the tour guide while delivering a very informative glimpse of history and tinge of culture. Landmarks that the Architects visited were; Middleside Barracks, Battery Way, Topside Barracks (Mile Long Barracks), Pacific War Memorial Park and Museum, Corregidor Lighthouse, Battery Crockett, Lorcha Dock (MacArthur s departure point for Australia), Escuela de Nuestra Señora del Carmen (1 st Elementary School), Japanese Memorial Garden, Filipino Heroes Memorial Garden, Mindanao Garden of Peace, and the Malinta Tunnel. #ACountryWithoutRuinsIsACountryWithoutHistory #ACountryWithoutHistoryIsACountryWithoutMemory #OneUAPSolidB3 MONTHLY CHAPTER REPORT This report can be viewed at the UAP Corporate Website Page 10 of 10
