Developers Pete Brett and Michael Fletcher are under contract to purchase the 1-acre property at 109 W. Stone Ave., home to Battery and Electric Company, a small engine parts store, along with other businesses since the 1960s. BECO plans to move to a new, soon-to-be-announced location. Construction should begin later this month on the triangular, 9-acre property across from Canal Insurance, which will begin with work to reconfigure the alignment of the incongruous intersection of Wade Hampton Boulevard, Church Street and Stone Avenue..." -Greenville News, April 10, 2017 "Half-Moon Outfitters, a regional chain of outdoors retail stores with headquarters in Charleston, has acquired a 14,000-squarefoot building at 603 E. Stone Ave. as a new home for its Greenville store, which is currently located at 1437 Laurens Road. The Greenville store will move in late 2017 or 2018, the company said. Half-Moon Outfitters is in the final year of its lease at the shopping center near the intersection of Laurens and Pleasantburg roads. The retailer is currently found between Luthi s Outfitters and the Trek Bicycle Store in the shopping center, where it opened in " -Upstate Business Journal, June 9,

8 Local Happenings BB&T TOWER STONE PIN TROLLEY STONE AVE RETAIL "Charleston developer The Beach Co. plans to turn a high-rise in downtown Greenville that is currently occupied by the BB&T bank into an apartment complex. The Beach Co. also plans to put a grocery, as well as houses and townhomes, on what are now parking lots used by BB&T across the street, said Dan Doyle, a senior vice president with the developer. It paid $10 million for the bulk of the development site in July and is scheduled to close on two more parcels, according to Doyle and Greenville County property records. The proposed mixed-use project on both sides of Buncombe Street near the Heritage Green cultural complex..." " On May 15, the long-awaited boutique bowling alley Stone Pin Company officially opens under the event space Revel at 304 E. Stone Ave. in Greenville. The opening was delayed from its original May 1 date because of construction hang-ups, but the space is now ready to rumble, co-owner Howard Dozier says. Dozier also owns Revel, Pour Lounge, and Comedy Zone... The space includes six lanes, three on each side with a full bar and lounge in the center. Bowlers can wait their turns while lounging on crescent-shaped faux-leather sectionals that are several notches above the usual hard plastic bowling chairs..." "One of the city s new trolleys would serve Augusta Street, Cleveland Park and the Greenville Zoo, while the other would serve the Village of West Greenville under routes unveiled by Greenlink Monday afternoon. The city is buying and funding operation of two new trolleys. The trolleys, which are being paid for through hospitality tax revenue, must support restaurants, retail, parks and leisure destinations outside the central business district by providing tourists and residents transportation. The trolleys are free and will start at Falls Park.
