Other issues encountered in res halls: Inconvenience of not providing break housing, Need to enhance outdoor grass areas.

8 OBJECTIVES PARTICIPATION MARKET ANALYSIS DEMAND ANALYSIS FINANCIAL ANALYSIS RECOMMENDATIONS NEXT STEPS SURVEY CONCLUSION Students are paying an average of $619/month/person off campus (rent & utilities) On-campus double occupancy is $375/month/person Students are more satisfied with the off-campus market (96%) than on-campus housing (86%), but on-campus satisfaction is well above national norm Students consider certain amenities for housing options: Total cost of rent and utilities, Availability of laundry facilities, Availability of high-speed internet, More living/common spaces, & Privacy (bedroom and bathroom).

9 B&D Recommendations Partner with 3 rd party to design, build, finance, and manage beds 1/2 suites 1/2 apartments Likely strings attached (eg. Occupancy guaranty) Raise rates from $375/ person to $ / person (market is $620) College financing would lower price approx. $40/ person Assumes Increase occupancy from 87% to 95% Budget of $19.4M ($170/sq. ft.)

10 Housing Team Recommends Re-prioritize capital project list to Renovate Kachina ($1.5M) in Summer 2013 Renovate Marapai ($1M) in Summer 2014 Address energy-efficiency and fire-safety issues Replace paint, carpet and furniture Invest in grounds around Res. Halls Raise prices to market rates If occupancy remains high at new rate, consider replacing Supai with apartments in Summer 2015 ($7M)
