1 1 How to Apply for Student Housing as an Exchange Student at the Kölner Studierendenwerk (KStW) for Your Stay at THK Website: Click on Wohnen/Habitation.

3 Before applying for housing you should have a look on the list of residences and decide where you would like to live (click on dormitory and see screenshot on next page). Please use an online map (e.g. google maps) or click on Positon im Stadtplan on the KStW website for orientation. 2 Then you apply online (use the online application form).

4 4 1 You will study at THK s Campus Südstadt which located at Ubierring 48 (area: Köln-Südstadt). THK can easily be reached from every dormitory location by public transport, e.g: to station Ubierring with tram no 15 and 16 or bus line 133 and 142 to station Chlodwigplatz (five minutes walk to Ubierring) tram no 17 or bus line 106 and 132.* The nearest areas to the Campus Südstadt are the following Stadtteile : Neustadt Süd, Rodenkirchen, Zollstock, Deutz, Agnesviertel, Altstadt Nord, Klettenberg, Lindenthal, Sülz. (Do NOT choose Gummersbach and Leverkusen, these are towns outside Cologne.) * Cologne is also most suitable to get around by bicycle. You can rent a bike at various so called Bike Sharing Services in Cologne:

5 5 2 How to fill-in the online application form: Choose between: *Appartment, **Flurzimmer, or ***WG-Zimmer * We mean by that a self-contained flat consisting of one room with a kitchenette, bathroom and WC. There are also 1- double room flats in a few of the dormitories. They are usually bigger than single 1-bedroom flats and can be rented by couples or if desired by single students. **A single room reaching on a corridor with shared bath, kitchen, and WC. Some Flurzimmer are equipped with a sink. Some halls of residence also provide a common room. *** = Wohngemeinschaft: Two to seven students share a flat. Every student has one private room and shares kitchen, bath, and WC with the others.

6 6 UW students choose: ERASMUS TH-Köln UW/DUFE students: Exchange TH Köln Choose: - möbliert (= furnished) - Kurzzeitmieter (= short-term lease) - Erstsemester (= freshman) Please note: If you apply for a place at a hall of residence, you will receive an offer as soon as there s a vacancy. Please notice: You have to confirm that you want to rent the apartment offered by the KStW within a certain deadline. If you do not answer in time the offer will be given to someone else. Thus, please check your s regularly. If you haven t received an offer by early-august, i.e. 8 weeks before lectures start, please inquire at the Kölner Studentenwerk. Please also note that THK has no influence on the application process nor on the letting. In case of any questions please address directly to the Kölner Studentenwerk. Thank you for your comprehension. One more hint: Leases starting in September (instead of October) might receive a preferencial treatment.
