4 Planning Overview Transit & Highway Accessibility Provincial, Regional & Municipal Planning Context The Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe was initially put in place in 006 and was updated in 0 with new policies established to help build upon the successes of the initial Growth Plan while responding to key challenges that face the region. As part of these plans, the Ontario Provincial Government sets regional growth targets for population and employment which must be subsequently allocated to individual municipalities by their respective upper tier government. York Region has been undergoing a review of their 0 Preferred Growth Scenario as part of their Regional Official Plan Review. The most recent growth scenario was released in November 0 and set out proposed employment and population targets for all York Region lower tier municipalities.
